This is ridiculous... I cannot believe that the 2000 have gone to EVERYONE but people in here!!! Did anyone get a confirmation email?
No confirmation email, but a confirmation that I was entered at 14.06.
Took a screen shot if I'm not one of the first 2000 I will be emailling them to see what they say!

Whoa... Why doesn't everyone calm down here.Robertoegg wrote: »moan moan moan I'm being given a chance to win something for free moan moan moan
listen to yourselves! It's like a bloody playground for the spoilt.... "I was trying from 1:50" Well there you go then, it said from 14:00
I happen to agree with you Mr Egg. Lot of hot air about nothing.OK well I'm sorry if you are think you are spoilt but for me this is like going out expecting to get pizza and being served a burger! I wouldn't have wasted 15 minutes trying to enter if it was a draw as I don't see the point in entering it! I am not going to waste another 15 minutes of my life entering again just because someone posts saying that they haven't actually gone through! That is what people are moaning about! I didn't try until 2pm and it took me 15 minutes from then so personally I will continue to moan because I'm not happy!
Gismo - In fairness you shouldn't have expected anything, surely you didn't think it was a surefire thing that you'd be one of the lucky 2000? Are you aware how many people use this site/receive the email?? I don't care how prepared they 'could' have been, there's no way they would even consider upgrading their infrastructure for a one-off deal. It defies business sense. You win some, you lose some - hopefully we are both lucky, but I'm not going to get irate and lose any sleep over it. It has cost me nothing and there's every possibility I could benefit for a whole year. If not, nothing changes.
To me the whole 'draw' thing sounds like a misunderstanding... What's with all the mistrust and talk of suing?? I'm sure Martin is well aware he is answerable and therefore would not be daft enough to recommend some two-bit operation. From what I gather TasteLondon is an established and well regarded business.
What do they get from this?? LOTS of publicity. And good on them I say, take a loss on the freebies to get thousands of extra hits. It seems to have done the trick - I wasn't even aware of TL prior to today.

Waah! waah! I want it for free! I want it now, I don't want to wait, and I don't want my email address used, and they said it was "first come first served from 2:00" and I took the day off work I WAS HERE FIRST AT 1:50 and now the site's gone down, but when it's working I've put my name in 65 times and my mum's name and my boyfriend's name and my girlfriend's name and my mates' names. What a waste of my precious life. Waaaaaah!
Oh, how nice. You signed up just to post this. :rolleyes:0 -
Dear All
I wanted to write this in response to the many comments that have been placed regarding our third birthday giveaway.
Firstly, I would like to apologise unreservedly for the server issues that we experienced at roughly 1:55pm today. Despite a number of calls to our hosting company prior to launch, and being assured that the site would not crash, as you will no doubt be aware the site went down for roughly 20 minutes – and only returned intermittently after that.
Secondly, just to clarify, there was no prize draw. The first 2,000 applicants will all receive complimentary tastelondon memberships. We work in an honest and transparent way, and I have just come off the telephone from our web developer who is building a page which will illustrate those 2,000 names. I am sure that many of you reading this will see your names appear (obviously no other personal data will appear), so hopefully this will dispel any thoughts that we are simply hand-picking winners, or worse still not sending memberships out. We were guilty of using the wrong terminology, and for that I apologise.
Every other person that entered their details will receive a free one month membership. The system should have changed to reflect this after the 2,000 memberships had gone, but unfortunately we could not access the system as our servers had gone down.
I felt compelled to write this in response to many of the comments that have been placed above. At worst we have encountered technical difficulties, and perhaps been a little naive regarding the response rate, but we have certainly not been guilty of anything worse than this, and I hope that when you receive your memberships (either one month or 12 months) that you all thoroughly enjoy using them.
Please feel free to e-mail any comments to me directly, I will answer all queries personally.
