New Improved Site Search

What's been done and why?

Many have told me finding the right article on the main site is tough. The techies have had a go at improving the search. This is the main site search (located at the very top of the page in the graphical header) not the forum search....

Give your Feedback

I'd like MoneySavers to give it a try then come back here to leave feedback.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE KEEP THIS TO THE MAIN SITE NOT CHAT FORUM SEARCH :)

Can we have a search criteria for 3 characters as in techie there are
quite a few searches that rely on it,

Like MSN, CRT, TFT, VPN, CPU, you get the sort of thing I mean when a search
is sometimes done like using a search like this some searches dont see the 3 character
word so is it possible to lower the search criteria to a 3 character field. :)

It seems better as before it was so confusing that i never bothered searching main site. Now its much clearer. Like the "20 articles" (example) that you can click for results. Much simpler and clearer. Thanks

    I think it's improved a lot :)

When you get to the results page and click Chat Forum Search, would it be better to return posts that contain the keyword rather than just thread titles?

It might be just my own personal preference, but when I want to search for something on the forum I go immediately into Advanced Search and click to return posts.

I definatly second that, I had to start a new thread the other day for help with and avi file, which I could have found out easily had the serch function allowed me to

Much much better. I just searched for 'SKY' on the main site and got loads of pertinent results.

Only one small issue I do have is that after doing a search and getting the results page up, I then couldn't use the back button to go back to the previous page, as it was just the same results page that kept loading.

  • I 4th it - was looking for both sky and ntl the other day and neither could be found through search - had to look through stuff for ages

    thanks

Just used the new site search to find out about a credit card for a relative. I found it was much quicker and returned more relevant results than before. Thanks! ;):)
