  • I see what you mean, OH says that on some we pay DD so more can be taken out then a credit maybe given at a later date? Will look into all of them and try and get them down. Taking on board water, electricity usage- i've been very ignorant in the past, leaving lights on etc:naughty:

I started getting into gardening last year and going to continue to grow veg/salad this year- a lettuce is around 70p!!

I'm going to have a look at some of the challenges too and get myself onto one. Have registered on DooYoo also to try and get amazon vouchers for prezzies etc. Have already told friends and family we are cutting back so not to be offended if we turn down events etc and that wecan't spend as much on presents at xmas and birthdays. Doing a budget specifically for all of the birthdays and xmas- money assigned to eeach person and what month etc so i can plan and look for more cost effective gifts etc. I'm also a very good baker- if i don't say so myself! But i make nice cupcakes, cakes, muffins, cookies etc so could also utilise this for gifts.

    Today i'm going to:
    • Do some washing- at 30
    • Check shed for what seeds i have already and buy any extra from instore- saw some in there a while back for a lot cheaper
    • Get involved in a challenge
    • Do xmas/birthday budget
    • Buy packaging for ebay items
    • Continue searching for things to go on ebay etc
    • Find small notebook (not buy as there are a few knocking about my house) for a spending diary
    • Dentist- £15 but have to have my check up

    Well done so far.

You need to look at the T&C for your loans and find out what happens if you over pay them. There may actually be penalties for doing this, so find out.

  • I do a one hour commute to work and only spend £130 per month on fuel - and that includes running around at weekends as well as work travel.

When I had my diesel, I spent even less - do you do a lot of driving at weekends as well as during the week ? Is there anyone you can car-share with ?

If you are spending that on petrol per month, you should at least be getting your £5 Morrisons voucher every month :D ( Morrisons provides the best value for money points / voucher scheme of the big supermarkets)

Is there a cheaper way to get to work ? £300 is £14 per working day - is it possible to take the train on a monthly season ticket ?

  • Work petrol costs around £160, the rest is personal which i'll def def cut down, we travel to see family weekends and travel to football games in leicester as we are season ticket holders.

Train ticket to work is £18 return so no luck there and i'd have to get a taxi to my place of work too. Car share i am registered for but no one on my route as of yet.

Planted some veg today- tomatoes, letttuce, parsnips, potatoes. Will be doing some more, should help save some pennies.

Reading the money diet book by martin too which is good- anyone else read it?

I need to find out if my loans have and fees if i want to pay extra off. Will need to call them tomorrow as can't see anything on the T&Cs i have.

Really annoyed as i cannot find the V5 doc for my ford focus. Got it Aug 08 and i'm not sure i ever even got it. Well either way i'm going to have to pay for a new one!!!!

Right MOT book for Wednesday! Good thing is i should only have to pay for the MOT test as i have a 2 year MOT cover which means they pay for anything (up to £500) if it needs doing. So should just be £55.

    Today for me:
    • Dooyoo review
    • Order online shopping- needs to be under £50 (was spending £70)- at £35 at mo! party0011.gif
    • More gardening
    • Cook cottage pie for dinner and to use up some food
    • Put some dvds on ebay
    • Read some more of the Money Diet :money:
Some good news- fingers crossed i've sold my MG on ebay- £1150- a lot less that i wanted but need to get it gone.

I'm hoping that comes through so that would mean both Cap 1 and Barclaycard would be paid- with some left over to go on one of the loans :A
