Weekly Spend Challenge W/C 1st Feb

This challenge used to run every week (thanks to Moozie and PAP) but I have not seen it in a while so I hope no one minds but I need this to keep me on track ...

Hello everyone a010.gif. Welcome to the weekly spend challenege. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track.

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever. clapping.gif

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her around last year

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x

Good luck everyone.:T

  • :T:T:T:T:T:TWell done everyone has done really well last week.

Let me know your pledges for this coming week and I will update the first post. Also any results that I may have missed so I can turn you red or green.

£30 for me again this week as that is the standing order that goes into my spending account. I think I might taken on F_F suggestion of any money not spent, half to debt, half for a treat. Seems like a nice balance.

F_F how was Glasgow? The weather here has been good today no rain and I even saw the sun did you bring it over from Edinburgh with you?

£20 for this week. And I'm going to do it! Have a few things I have to pay for but they're all covered in other budgets, so I have no excuse!!

    Wish me luck!

I certainly did! The sun always shines on Edinburghers :rotfl:

Believe it or not, today was a NSD!! I took no money with me to Glasvegas, my dad gave me £21 (£20 + £1 he found in a car park!) and so the money I spent wasn't mine, so I'm counting it as a NSD. I only paid for my train ticket home and some bits from the corner shop.

I nearly died when I realised that a single ticket on the train was £10.30 though.

I did buy clothes today, but my mum paid for my Primark clothes. I had a basket 2/3 full, and when the man said £41.36 she went "How much?!?!?!" She had been expecting £80-£90, but she does shop in M&S most of the time :rotfl: She made me check the receipt twice as she was sure he hadn't put all the clothes through :rotfl:

The other thing I bought was some work trousers from New Look, but I was in credit by £12 on my New Look card so no money spent there either.

    I still have my £30 budget!! :j :j :j

Can i join in too please?
I'm seriously considering resigning in the summer and retaining as a teacher so lots of extra debt repayments and a bit saving needs to be done!

My budget for this week is £17.50 as that's what's in my purse and perhaps an extra £10 for emergencies as I have to travel home (200 miles each way) for a funeral during the week (petrol will come out of a separate budget). All food has been bought for the week already so should be OK to eat!

What do we do? Update as we go along or just declare at the end of the week?
