Well
Reported the situation to CS via the freephone number and the lady basically agreed that it sounded like they had withdrawn the SEL. The lady phoned the store and got back to me with two options. Would I like the manager to call and apologise and would I accept a £10 gift card.
I agreed to the latter as im easily bought (or is that just easy!!) but declined the apology as although marked to high heaven now did not want to wind the manager up any more
Well done for pursuing this. Hopefully your store will think twice before doing this again. :T“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”:D0 -
Given Tesco's past performance with regards to price integrity it is understandable that a customer may expect to be overcharged and therefore understandable they take precautions to safeguard themselves against it.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Also sometimes I go and double check the price before going to CS, and tell them that I've been back to check and I am definitely right!
The way I used to do it is wander the aisles casually "texting" someone - you are not really, but just look like you are - this explains why you are holding your phone. The from that lowish angle, aim up at the label and *snap*.
Then pay for the item and wander towards the exit. Realise something is wrong... then head back to the shelf in a "I thought that price was lower" manner. You then are faced with 2 scenarios...
1) The SEL is still there and you head off to CS. "I think I have been overcharged on this item, the shelf label says £3 and the till has charged me £100," (I wish!) "I've just been back to double check in case I made a mistake and it is definitely £3 on the price ticket - shall I show you..." and start to lead them.
2) Helpdesk's 'supposed' situation that they have noticed the wrong price - remember they always do a "rumble" during the day where everyone tidies up the shelves, it could have been noticed - and label has been removed. Go to CS and say "Hi, I picked this up off the shelf and the price ticket said £3. I have been charged £100 for it, but between me picking it up and buying it one of your staff must have removed the ticket. " They will probably say that they cannot do anything without proof that it was £3. Say "Oh, OK" then start to turn away, then suddenly turn back and say "Oh hang on, I wasn't sure if this was the correct item I needed so I was going to send a picture message to my other half to check and I took this photo of the label. I then thought to myself 'If it is the wrong one I can bring it back under your 28 day money back guarantee so I didn't send it in the end." If really needed there is usually a way of showing the date and time the picture is taken (test this before you rely on it - but never show them you are an expert in it - "Oh I think I can show the date and time this picture was taken ... somehow")
If after scenario 1 you go back to "show them the label, IT HAS NOW GONE.... fall back on the latter part of scenario 2!;)
Phew!I miss too many pages due to work so if you need an answer from me, please send me a PM.

Im new to the dtd policy but when you have been over charged cs then take the ood sel off when u get your dtd? when you have been overcharged could go to the shelf and 'check' to see if it was your mistake or the item scanning at the wrong price low and behold you see it was tescos error could you not take the sel to cs with you to prove the price then they cant get out of it? or is that breaking a rule? sorry this isnt a mis priced item just trying to get my head around it?0

You are on a sticky wicket with this one. If you go back into the store and come back to CS with an out of date SEL in your hand saying you have just taken this off the shelf, who is to say that you did not take it off the shelf 5 days ago when the offer was valid and have "switched" the labels whilst walking back to the CS desk. Best to leave it there and accompany the CS assistant to the shelf with the "I'll show you where it was" line.
One other thing, if you do go "back to check" before going to CS, walk swiftly past the item in question with no more than a glance to check it is still there. If you are known to them as a serial DTDer then they may watch you on CCTV or follow you if you go back in the store, so if you go back to the item, stop in front of it, stare at the label, verify the barcode with that on the product, they know precisely what item you will be DTDing and then have the opportunity to remove it. So why not lead them on a goose chase... go down several isles, look very closely at other items labels (not in the same area)!!I miss too many pages due to work so if you need an answer from me, please send me a PM.

Staff trainings obviously up to date in your T's, still giving R&R on overcharges.0
