    HM "health" bars
They are from a book written by a nutritionist who specialises in children.

75g chopped dried apricots, 60g fructose (I guess you can use sugar, which is what I'll be using), 60g mixed chopped nuts, 100g oats, 75g raisins, 30g sesame seeds, 60g wholemeal SR flour, 2 tbsp runny honey, 2 eggs beaten, 150g softened butter.

Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Mix all of thedry ingredients together in a bowl. In another bowl mix the honey, eggs and butter. Combine the ingredients. Transfer to a lightly-oiled shallow baking tin and bake for 20 mins until golden brown.

I can say that this is the best thing since sliced bread! A piece of this and a glass of milk will deffo set you up for the day!
Only remember to slice it up and hide half as otherwise you will turn around and find a few crumbs ... (that's if you're lucky - I wasn't!)

 What is it about home baking - the more I do, the less there is to eat in the house! If it makes it to the tupperware cake box I count myself lucky!
At least with shop bought stuff it hangs about for a while!

Absolutely - that's just why their giving up kitkats for Lent is such a burden! Ordinarily they'd come home, have a kitkat/breakaway/whatever, then just start munching on toast or fruit or cereal. All this homemade stuff just awakens their tastebuds! I can remember reading Lady Caroline Wrey's curtain book in which she said - and this has always stuck with me! - that she was good at sewing and cooking and thought about becoming a chef, but then it struck her that she spent hours of effort cooking and her creations all vanished within seconds with nothing to show for it, so she decided to sew instead!!! :D I know how she feels!

What can I have on hand for teenage boys to fill the gap betwen home from school & everyone home from work for dinner. We go for flapjacks, crumbles or leftovers but maybe a bit of variety would be good.

    Any ideas greatfully accepted

I used to give my two sandwiches, but now we have our dinner a bit earlier (5.30) i tend to stick to fruit, or homemade biscuits, so that they are still hungry at dinner time.

Some of my DS's favourite after school snacks are HM pitta bread/bread sticks & hummus, pitta pockets filled with salad/ham, slice of pastry-less quiche, raw carrots, cucumber, fruit, slice of malt loaf, flapjacks, muffins etc ... not all at once I might add! :rotfl: ... but they're just an example of the type of snacks we usually have :)

Other women want a boob job. Honey the only silicone i'm interested in is on a 12 cup muffin tray, preferably shaped like little hearts

I don't if this is what teenagers eat or not (my oldest is only 5) but what about those 9p noodles from Asda with a few handfuls of frozen mixed veg thrown in?
