  • Hi guys, apologies if this has already been asked, but I'm looking to make my granddad a 'wartime sweetie' jar, and I'll be getting the sweets from an old style sweet shop in town however I'd like to know what I'm asking for. What sort of sweets were most popular in those times? Pref the nicest ones, I understand it would have been hard due to the rationing etc but you catch my drift! :) Thankyou very much!

I did enjoy testing a few as we went along - I think I went thro 5 sherbert saucer packets alone :rotfl:

Picked up the last two little tool boxes from woolworths this morning.
Keeping one for my other son's birthday in April and one for ex foster girls OH - not sure what sweets to put in it............someone did one that was all mints..........

Was going to do a 'bouquet type thing for current foster lad but he might think thats a bit 'naff' so I'm going to fill a little bucket with curly wurly type things.............have to have a real good look round to find other sweets that are nice and long.

All of a sudden I feel I've got a last minute rush on and just when I thought I was so organised and had done it all !!
