Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I use Avira and can tell you without question that it doesnt use anywhere near the same resources as AVG, and it scans FAR quicker (Having tried both of them recently)

The fact it doesnt scan emails is not problem either as IF you should open one up it will stop it in its tracks anyways.

This is true it will still alert you when you open a E-mail with malware attatched , much the same really.

btw ClamWin is more suited to Linux than Windows ..it does not scan files when they are written to your HD.
Always follow the path of least resistance.

Good choice. I've been using it for years with no problems.

There's one other* free (and Open Source, but less well-known) AntiVirus solution to add to the three in Espresso's post: ClamWin. All four do things slightly different ways, and have slightly different features.

    * anyone know of any more free AV products?

    RISING AntiVirus
