Great ‘Cheap Sports Tickets' Hunt

  • also at Brentford a student standing season ticket is only £104, an adult pays just over £300 for the same ticket - still pretty good value. and a child season ticket anywhere in the ground is only £60 - that would get your kid 3 games at Chelsea.

they do ticket 'bundles' after christmas too - 10 tickets for a reduced price that can be used on any game and so on.

this is proper football league, not changing ends at half time stuff - tho you can get that seeing Slough Town say for less than a tenner a match, it's a different experience but still good fun.

things like replica shirts are a good deal cheaper outside the top 2 leagues as well...
Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:
  • go to the chippy round the corner though, the food in the ground is overpriced and not great quality - if you manage to get any!

Seasoin tickets are good so long as you can get to every game. Again at Villa the cheapest adult season ticket is £265 which is a shade under £14 a game which is pretty good for the Premier League. Under 16's pay £85 which is only £4.50 a match.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • There are some good offers going for christmas events like Barbarians vs Australia on Dec 3rd and the Race of Champions on Dec 14th.

Great way to take your family to a stadium event for the first time. Much less expensive than say Madonna / The FA Cup Final and much easier to get a ticket to obviously!

    Barbarians info here
    http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/2200408EBCC68308
Tickets from £15 with discounts for groups.
If you're a member of any airmiles programmes like BA or BMI, some of these are getting a further 20% off as supporters of the BOA. I've had a couple of offers this week.

The Race of Champions is like a giant scalextric track built in the stadium in a bid to find the fastest motorsport driver on a head to head knock out basis.
    Info here:

Tickets range from £9 kids, £18 adults upwards.

Disclosure: I work at the stadium but don't benefit personally from this!

My team is Middlesbrough, but I now live 120 miles away - with today's petrol prices the fuel costs me more than my season ticket

I've tried to get in touch with the club to get them to put something on their website about car sharing, as I see plenty of other cars going up the M1 with Boro stickers / scarves etc., going to the match. They did put something in one of their programmes, as I suggested using https://www.liftshare.com/uk/ but no link ups as yet! I've even tried the supporters' club but not really had any success.

not sure if it's our natural British reserve, but we're not good at car sharing in this country. It was big in Germany 20 years ago when I lived there and was an option that a lot of people thought of when travelling somewhere, whereas here most people wouldn't even think of it.

I do a car share to work most days too - it all helps.

So if anyone does travel up from the E mids to Boro - feel free to PM me!! Tempted to go to the Villa game tomorrow now too...

My sport is horses. And I volunteer as a cross country jump judge (to say yay/nay as whether the horse got over the jump succesfully or not)
Its brilliant. Its a free day out. I take my mate along to 'help'. They provide food & drink all day for us. I have seen some top names (although not had one fall off at my jump yet ...:) )
only downside is that you have to stay all day and in any weather
and I am sure the 'volunteering' principle could be applied to lots of sports

A lot of sports, premiership (and other leagues) football, cross country jumping, horse racing, rugby league and union etc., etc., all need first aid volunteers - you could always apply to be a first aid volunteer? Oh and not just sport first aid at concerts like at Sheffield arena etc., too.

Bath Rugby are doing a number of specials at the moment. Sale Sharks vs Bath at the Rec 20th December 2008. Group ticket cost of £10 each if you have 10 people together. What a better way to stop the madness of Christmas.

  • Give ice hockey a try. I go with my 2 sons to watch basingstoke bison in the top uk elite league at a cost of £30 and think it's great value. You can watch lower league for less and kids/ladies hockey for free. All need more support and you won't be disapointed with this fast and frantic sport
