What's the deal?
The coach company National Express is running an offer to get journeys throughout England, Wales and Scotland at the bargain cost of £1 each way. Trips include Edinburgh to London; Newcastle to Sheffield; and Oxford to Birmingham.
A year or so ago, National Express used to offer bargain £1 ‘funfare’ tickets. The price of these went up to £5, so this is an awesome bargain.
How to get a cheap ticket
Use the journey planner on the left hand side of the National Express £1 sale page. If a special fare is available, you will see "from £1" in the "funfares?" column.
This offer’s bookable until 14 September for journeys up to 30 September.
Other Cheap £1 Travel Tickets
Also see the £1 Megabus and the £1 Megatrain both of which have been around for a while. You'll also find full train cost cutting details in the Cheap Train Tickets article.
A similar offer's been included in the weekly email before but many thanks to MoneySaver slidebite20 who spotted it's on again. We created this special post so we could give everyone the full lowdown, thanks for the great spot.

If you cannot find what you want at N Express then megabus.com has routes starting from £1 (plus a 50p booking charge). I booked Edinburgh to London for £1.50 last month but then bottled out when I thought about the 9 hour journey and took the train for £27.You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0

Surely the prices National Express are offering in this so called 'Seat Sale' can be found on their funfares section of their website.0
-
I can't find ANY cheap fares on there.
There are no codes to put in. No hints to which routes have the cheap fares. No hint as to time of day these fares can be found.
You MIGHT just happen on a fare BUT if you do you're extremely lucky!
I tried a few destinations/routes & found normal fares on all.
It's not a very user friendly site at all.
Funfares are to Limited destinations BUT a little bit easier to find than these!0 -

Generally, their funfares now start at £5.
But there are lots of £1 fares now available:
London to Manchester, Leicester, Bristol, etc.
Birmingham to London.
I haven't got time to scan for more!0 -
I have booked many Funfares & they have ranged from £1 to £8. At the mo the cheapest seems to be on average £5 but i am putting this down to the school hols. I also know that they only advertise the funfares for the next 30 days so you cannot book any for Oct yet. One other good thing is the shoppers discount cash back reward. I did one booking on Nat Express & then got the follow up screen offering this cash back from shoppersdiscountrewards.co.uk. I filled it in, sent them the booking confirmation & got a cheq for £15 !!! :T
The best deal i did get was My daughter from Sheffield to London £1. London to Canterbury £1. Then i picked her up from Canterbury in the car. This save me going into London on train £13.20 return then her train ticket £15.00. If i took the car the congestion TAX £8 !!. There are some real bargains0 -
Can anyone find anything cheap for Manchester to Leicester, flexible on dates but a week by mid Sept.
Can't find anything less than around £15.0 -
I just had a look to see if I could find Manchester to Leicester journeys for less than £15 but only found ones for £18.90 return using LSTEN. Next time you make an enquiry like this be sure to click on 'save this journey' to save the price you've found otherwise when you go back to National Express you may have to pay more.0

Does anyone know if you have to get on at the point stated on your ticket?
I'm trying to book leics to london return - the booking says london victioria coach station but i need to get off and on a golders green. The coach arrives at goldres green before victoria on the way down so no issues there but on the return, I'd have a ticket that says frm london victoria to leics but would actually get on at golders green!
Any advice on whether this will work?0 -
Any ideas on how to get lower cost fares between London Heathrow and Stansted?
I find my cheap Ryanair flights, but then the cost of the National Express coach is exorbitant, cheap deals are never available between airports.
Any ideas out there?
