My sister called me earlier. She and my neice will be coming to my house on Saturday to help me get on with the kitchen. Since I gave up my full time job many moons ago it has been half finished. Actually, that's probably extending the truth a bit - it's new units are in, the walls are about a quarter stripped, half the tiles are off the wall and it looks a bit like a small explosion has taken chunks out of the walls. We're going to finish the stripping (behave Vlad!) and get the rest of the tiles off. Then, I'm going to use the money I got for my birthday to get it plastered. Anybody got any idea how much plastering costs? It's only a small room but I hope it wont be too hideously expensive.
So, at least I'll be kept busy this weekend. It also means I have to get my finger out for the rest of the week so they can get in the door!
dont suppose your near worcestershire are you?plasterers are pretty dear im afraid,i know a guy whos pretty resonable though but dont know how far he would travel for work, but i had a couple of quotes for my lounge and kitchen ceilings and he beat all quotes by £225!!! so shop around and ask for complete prices, not per day/hour etc.how much for the complete job.hth.xxx

As Wol said, plasterers are not cheap - Harry Enfields legacy. is there any alternative? If it's just patches you might be able to find someone who does odd jobs rather than a full-time plasterer. Just make sure you don't spend that money on getting yourself plastered:D

Zoe, I'm in Fife so it looks like I wont be able to take advantage;) of your plasterer.

Vlad, there are big chunks missing in lots of places where the old tiles decided to take the wall with them but the walls aren't big. It's really just the bit between wall and floor cupboards (about 4 cupboards in length) on one wall, above floor cupboard to ceiling on the other (probably about 2 1/2m long, one full wall (only about 2m wide) and the bit under the window on the other one. With such precise measurements someone should surely be able to give me an idea of cost.:D

No alternative to plastering really but I've got just over £100 in birthday money and I'll add whatever is necessary to get it done. It really is hideous at the moment and not a good place to cook so it'll be worth it even if I do have to fork out some extra cash.
