Vodafone £20/mth for 600 min, unlimited texts & a handset.

What's the deal?

New customers who sign up to a Vodafone contract via cashback site, Quidco, can get £130 cashback on the deal.

Don't confuse this with a 'cashback mobile deal' where you have to jump through hoops to reclaim cashback.

You can get this on any Vodafone contract but a good deal for high texters is available meaning you can get 600 anytime minutes, unlimited texts plus a handset for effectively £20/month over 18 months.

To check if this is a good deal for you read the Cheapest Mobiles article.

How the cashback deal works

Cashback sites are special sites which list retailers and product providers. They get paid by the retailers if you click through them but they give you a slice or all of the cash they get paid. With Quidco you will have to pay a £5 admin fee per year, this is one of the ways it makes money. However if the cashback doesn't work for some reason you won't get charged the £5.

To get this deal go to Quidco, search for Vodafone and click on the link which takes you to the Vodafone site.
  • WARNING! Cashback sites are never 100% guaranteed payout.

As cashback sites rely on the retailers paying them, you can never count cashback as a sure thing until it's in your bank account.

However, overall it's pretty unlikely that anyone won't get the cashback, yet unlike a retailers cashback deal, this system isn't guaranteed. According to Quidco tracking reliability is high with 97% of transactions being tracked.

If you're a first time cashback site user, please do read the full Best Cashback Sites article for a full explanation of the pros and cons. Plus to see how the different sites payouts compare use the Cashback Sites Maximiser
Anything else I should know?

This is only available to new customers, not those that are upgrading. The pay monthly phone contract sales will track at £90 but will be validated at £130 so don't worry when you see this.

Why is there such a negative attitude to cashback deals provided by retailers? Phones4u are currently doing a Samsung J700 with 700 mins and 250 texts for free; and there's a profit of £20 available after Quidco. That's a saving of £260 over the deal mentioned above.....and more minutes to boot!

The only requirements for these deals are:

    1) Deal with a large retailer that has a small chance of going bust
    2) Follow the instructions for cashback to the letter and use Recorded Delivery (or Special Delivery with 'consequential loss' insurance) for claims
    3) Be prepared to threaten court action at each stage of the process where the retailer doesn't pay up.

How much do you pay per month? I'm looking to switch to vodafone too.

    Cheers

See all the threads on problems with cashback retailers.

As far as the cpw group of companies is concerned, (a large enough retailer?), threatening them with court action is water off a duck's back to them. There are plenty of posts from people having to actually issue proceedings which they then defend, causing the customer to have to progress the action till eventually a settlement is reached.

£130 cashback over 18 months is around £7.20 per month. So is the price plan I should be looking at the one at £25 (only online)? This has 600mins and unlimited txt.

Then I choose a phone which is either free at that monthly cost of £25, or pay extra for a better model if required.

    Does that sound right?
  • good news story about phone cashbacks. Thru Phones4u, got a £40 pm 12m Vodafone contract with a good Samsung phone. Cash back cheques coming in promptly (4 x £110) - so will be £440 cash back by end of contract. If I sell the phone at the end of the contract, will have had 500 minutes plus 500 texts per month for just about nowt.

  • Just signed up for 600 mins package through quidco - thanks for the tip.

Also if you plan on recycling your old phone through envirohpne i've just noticed that quidco also have a cashback link to them so you can also get an extra £3.25? if you create a new envirophone account.

    Newshound!
I have been using e2save for 5 years and have never had a problem claimig my cashback. I stick very carefully to the rules, my cheques have been arriving within a week lately! I rang O2 to cancel this years contract to start another deal, but they offered me a deal to stay with them I couldn't refuse. £5 per month for 275 mins and 200 texts no cashback to claim just £5 DD from my bank. No new phone, but my handset is fine. It's definately worth asking to disconnect, you get through to a different department which has better deals -Worth a go!
