Please Search Before Posting

I wonder if people actually bother to search before posting....IT'S FREE

You could 'bounce' the original thread if it's burried and worth seeing again.

If the search facilities not working can report the keyword used and how it didn't bring anything up so it can be fixed.

Otherwise it's just more effort for other people to merge threads, search through things they've already applied for etc etc. If time is money, this must be costing people a fortune!

There was also about 8 threads for the Filetti Washing Powder, and the free Renault World Series tickets.

The search is crap on the Forum. Bottom Line. say for instance i want to search for GHD. No can't cause it's only got 3 letters. Personally I really don't see what the problem is with having a few threads for things. I know people say it clogs the board up. but if someone else see's it then just merge the 2 threads and bump it up. I personally only saw an offer on about the supposed 5th posting of something recently, that i would've missed had it not been re-posted.

'Just merge the two threads' - The mods aren't there to sort our posts out when we're too lazy to do a search! Yes the search function isn't happy with 3 letter words or abbrev. but there's no reason why a different keyword can't be used for the search - there will be more than one you can use.
Personally i'm monumentally fed up with seeing multiple threads of the same offer - searching the freebie board isn't difficult    There's enough guidance on how to use the boards in the stickys on each board.

If the offer you saw and almost missed was put on the original thread to bounce it back to the top again, you would have no problem finding it. I've seen genuine new freebie threads pushed down to pages way further down then where they should be because of multiple threads.

    Yes, same here.

Search doesn't always come up trumps.

Thanks to everyone who posts freebies.

The search facility really isnt up to scratch on this forum - considering the number of postings though perhaps it isn't able to copy with the quantity.

......and be prepared to wade through pages of duplicate threads just to find the new stuff  Ignoring it doesn't help.

As far as I understand, the search facility on this forum will be the same as on other forums, so why do other forums manage to keep the number of duplicate threads down and this one doesn't.

Are people having specific problems with searching?

And again - if the freebie was put on the original thread to bounce it back up to the top again, you would have no problem finding it.
