Goals for w/c 12th March 2006?

Hi everyone,

It's that time again! How did you all do with your goals from last week and what are you planning to achieve this week?

(Last week's thread link:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1697913#post1697913)

My goals for last week were:-

*Have at least 4 no spend days - planning to spend my remaining £10 ish for the week on:-
-Train fare to visit my friend in hospital - she has suspected MRSA after recovering from surgery
-A small gift of a large chocolate bar for my boss who has just had a baby when I go to visit them both (I already have the outfit)
-A quick drink with my craft fair buddy in the pub on Friday after work
(I don't know if this is cheating but I don't count eBay postage or any money I spend on craft supplies as this now comes out of my new business account)
7/10 - I had 2 proper 'no spend days' and 2 other days when I only spent out of my business account and joint account (food) - not out of my £20 a week

*I've got 4 big events coming up in April - this week I will work out how I can pay for these without breaking the budget
- work ball
-trip to Isle of Bute for friend's birthday
-trip to spa with mum (she is paying for spa and accom but need to buy dinner both days)
-trip to Darlington to say goodbye to one of my close friends who is emigrating to Oz
2/10 - I didn't manage to do this, but have a chat planned with OH tonight to work out creative ways to to pay for all the above

*Make 3 soups today for freezing and also make a quiche, some houmous (sp?) and some choc chip muffins 8/10 - I made 3 soups on 3 evenings when I came home from work last week (one of them burnt to the bottom of the pan because I was so busy on MSE so I turned it into something else!) and I made houmous yesterday. I've made another 2 soups this morning (had better go and check on them!) and am planning to make choc chip cookies and maybe another soup (if I've enough tubs and room in the freezer) this evening

*List 5 more items on eBay - god it's boring. 0/10 - Not done, been so busy with below

*Get up-to-date with all my eBay craft/wedding favour orders as I'm a bit behind 6/10 - Still a bit behind but taking longer than expected to do one of the orders

*Make my business cards - unless can buy them for free somewhere 9/10 - Got on Vistaprint's customer panel or something so ordering business postcards instead 100 double sided for just postage costs. Ordering today.

*Do my cleaning (not strictly a money related goal, but a goal all the same!) 0/10 - Doing today, I promise!

*Work really hard and achieve lots at work - been a bit unmotivated recently (ditto!) 6/10 - Feeling more motivated but still lots of get through

My goals for this week:-

*4 no spend days from my £20 budget for the week
*Get loads ready for my craft fair on Sunday - stock, business cards, display etc. This will take up most of my spare time.
*Put up cards/posters for babysitting (did first babysit in 10 years last night!)
*Go and visit my friend in hospital an hour and half's drive away and stop worrying about the petrol cost - she is more important!
*Do my cleaning and tidying - TODAY!
*Keep up the motivation at work
*If have time, send off bank charges letter

Good luck with your goals!

  • Hi Scottish

Hmmm, goals for this week? Right, lets have a think.....

    1. Post letter re: bank charges (kind of a little cheat that one because i've already done the letter, got to post it tomorrow <gulp>)

    2. List a load more things on ebay on thursday (mind numbingly boring, but it's got to be done!), I was told thursday is the best day to list stuff because if you do it for 10 days you get 2 full weekends :)

    3. Have got to go to town tomorrow to put a cheque in the back (overpayment to the council tax, finally refunded yay!!) and buy some acetone (don't ask!!) and i'm determined that's all i will buy. I don't need anything else so i won't buy anything else.

    4. Make my £30 budget last me all week. It's sat in my purse (along with £15 that i didn't spend last week!), but i didn't have to buy cigs last week (lovely mum brought me some back off her holiday, which should last me till tuesday). I know i should give up smoking, but i can't/won't. As long as it comes out of my budget then i feel okay about it.

    :j

Good luck with your goals scottish. Do that letter to your bank, you'll be glad you did :D
Why is there always so much month left at the end of my money?

My goals are 5 x no spend days (I have enough groceries, and food in the freezer to do this).

I have drawn out £10 from the bank to last me the week... should be able to do it as nothing on. ( do have to pay swimming lessons of £78, but that is covered in my budget!!).

Good luck to all with your goals for the week.

    Hey guys :)

Thanks scottishspendaholic for this useful thread ;)

Here are my aims for this week:

    1. Have a £10 spending money week (Mon-Fri) This should be ok unless my colleague wants to go out for lunch. Sadly his mom passed last week and I offered to take him out to lunch (owe him one anyway) to have a proper chat.

    2. Make lunch for myself and OH to take to work 4/5 days. We both have subway cards that need to be used - worth it for the price of a soft drink there ;)

    3. List even more items on Ebay. Got 5 on there now and lots more to go on it!

Have a great week everyone :j

First week I've had a go at this so I'm only going to set a couple of goals:

    1. £10 spending week (not including groceries or monthly season ticket that has to be bought this week).
    2. Take packed lunches to work every day.
    3. Investigate options for reducing mobile bill.
