Hi everyone,
Is it sad I really look forward to posting on this thread every week and seeing how everyone has got on?
Here were my goals from last week (Here is the link to last week's thread is anyone needs it:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=157522&page=1&pp=10)
*4 no spend days - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
I managed 3 - Monday, Wednesday and Friday. OH gave me some money for a coffee and a paper during a LONG wait at the train station last Sunday - wasn't really my money but trying to be honest here!; on Tuesday I bought a lovely Mother's Day card and some butter to make my pancakes; on Thursday I paid for my drama club membership and a drink while at the Cttee meeting in the village; yesterday I was at a craft fair in Edinburgh and spent money on admission and drinks for a friend and I.
Not a bad week although yesterday could've been better (although it was research for my own craft fair I have a stall at in a couple of week time). Score 8/10
*Sort out finances with OH - there's a story here for all of you but I'll tell you when I've a bit more time and everything has calmed down a bit
Done and have worked things through - feel happy with everything out in the open and my £20 a week budget. OH even has my bank card!
I feel really positive at the moment about getting everything paid off and getting on with my life! Score 9/10
*Make lots of things for my craft fair including signs and business cards
I've done lots of research and am much further forward than last week although struggling for the time to make the stock for the table and my business cards. If only my eBay items weren't so busy and I didn't have so many orders (joke)!
Craft business stuff is going really well and feel really excited about it. Score 7/10
My goals for this week are:-
*Have at least 4 no spend days - planning to spend my remaining £10 ish for the week on:-
-Train fare to visit my friend in hospital - she has suspected MRSA after recovering from surgery
-A small gift of a large chocolate bar for my boss who has just had a baby when I go to visit them both (I already have the outfit)
-A quick drink with my craft fair buddy in the pub on Friday after work
(I don't know if this is cheating but I don't count eBay postage or any money I spend on craft supplies as this now comes out of my new business account)
*I've got 4 big events coming up in April - this week I will work out how I can pay for these without breaking the budget
- work ball
-trip to Isle of Bute for friend's birthday
-trip to spa with mum (she is paying for spa and accom but need to buy dinner both days)
-trip to Darlington to say goodbye to one of my close friends who is emigrating to Oz
*Make 3 soups today for freezing and also make a quiche, some houmous (sp?) and some choc chip muffins
*List 5 more items on eBay - god it's boring
*Get up-to-date with all my eBay craft/wedding favour orders as I'm a bit behind
*Make my business cards - unless can buy them for free somewhere
*Do my cleaning (not strictly a money related goal, but a goal all the same!)
*Work really hard and achieve lots at work - been a bit unmotivated recently (ditto!)
I think that's enough for now - I'd love to hear how you got on and your goals for this week! God, I'm so nosey!

Hi themaccas,
You can't say you haven't done too well if you have paid off £300 in your credit card in one week and are planning another £350 this week - that's amazing :T How are you managing it? I'm really pleased for you. You are doing brilliantly.

I am fairly new (and horribly addicted!) and didn't have any goals last week sooooo for this week
Make Monday-Wednesday no spend days
Make the chick pea, lentil and veg soup I am making at the mo' last until Wednesday (for lunches)
Spend a maximum of £16 inc £6 train fair at gig Thursday night.0 -
I also enjoy seeing how everyone has done, and the targets that are set give me ideas on other things to do.
Last week I set these (modest) goals:
Add two £2 coinsdone
Continue spending diarydone
Cancel one magazine subscription, and replace with one I would preferdone - but instead of taking out another sub I did a 3 for £1 offer
Send for some things for the small enterprise I have in minddone
As there is a bad forecast, I am not going to mention work!It was too cold
In addition, I opened a Paypal a/c, registered with ebay and Amazon, listed items on both (thanks to DS1 for help!). I have sold two books already!
I am actually pretty plesed with last week, although I did set myself modest and achievable goals.
So, for this week my goals are:
Add 2 £2 coins
Keep spending diary
Buy the few last items for small enterprise and complete paperwork for this
Try to book sales table at upcoming plant fair to launch small enterprise
Work out a rough budget for month (not easy as I have lots of things to buy for DS1's very special trip to China in April)
Have one no spend day
Get one day's work (fingers crossed, forecast is better...)
Good luck everyone!

3) Not to buy anything other then fuel. Had postage for ebay as well. But a Success
4) 4 no spend days. Yep. Managed that
5) Look at my mobile contract and see if I can cut it down. Dropped insurance and txt message package. Saving £13.99 a month
This week
1) Four no spend days
2) Join Library so I can get books there.
3) Drive more economically. I am heavy footed.0 -
I love this thread. I sem to be much better behaved if I think I have to report back or if someone might be watching me.
3 no spend days - Success
take breakfast & lunch to work all week unless someone offers to buy. 4 out of 5. Didnt take lunch on Friday as intended to have cut price curry with men at work but then didnt have time to go.
Do new debt schedule in excel Yep, Dunnit & not looking too bad at all, still paying for the conservatory (and when will that ever be finished - what was the rush to buy materials for !!! and the LPG conversion on the car but thats okay as its saves £30 per week in petrol
Do new budget in excel Yep, done and purchaed microsoft money from ebay after reading how brill it is on here
Put £2 coins somewhere not so easy to get them back (difficult to open tin or money box ?) Nope but at least I didnt spend them & did add to them
Complete meal planner & then work on shopping list to last us all month (except milk & veg weekly)with a view to keeping it under £300 for all 4 of us. Completed a meal planner but not shopping list, didn't stick it anyway but have spent £78 so far and have a house full of food so al is not lost
Next weeks goals
3 no spend days (atleast)

Start using money manager if it arrives
Abandon meal planner & shopping list until more enthusiastic about it !Building an emergency fund and starting on the mortgage!0 -
Here are my goals for last week. Not done as well as I would have hoped:
1. Have 2 no spend daysDidn't manage this at all, spent every day this week
2. Move all debt except 0% onto 6.95% balance transfer to Halifax CC. Have moved all except £100 from Halifax, which will be my goal this week, then can move it all back to 6.95%
3. List a few items on EbayDid this and transfered £130 to my account this week
4. Put change collected into credit union account. Failed again
5. Reduce sky package down from £18 to £15, even try to get the 3 months at £7.50 if I can!! Didn't do this
Right for this week my goals will be:
1. Post letters to bank and credit card companies requesting list of all charges over the last 6 years.
2. Put money in Credit union account. Try again!!
3. Move the last £100 off halifax, then transfer debt back at 6.95%
4. Reduce sky package down from £18 to £15, even try to get the 3 months at £7.50 if I can!!
Will try better this week. Good luck again to you all.0 -
I don't think I had a great week unlike some of you (very impressed!)
Here were my goals
1. Order cheapest thing possible on menu and make a pint of lager last!
I ordered only a main course - £5.95 and I did make a pint last, but then had to order a coke as well - they brought me a pint of coke! I did drive so saved on taxi fare.
2. Try and get a lift home or share taxi (I won't be able to take the car that night for various reasons otherwise I would!)
As it turned out I *could* take the car! :T
3. Add at least x1 £2 coin to my new jar
Added three! :j
4. Only spend on EBAY postage & essential fresh groceries on Thursday.
Failed miserably. Completely forgot about many things: boots needing re-heeling, the meal, buying birthday cards, groceries (I bought a few little 'extras'), bought two pairs of £9 jeans from M&S and a new £10 work top (which will mean I can bring a skirt out of hibernation), needed to buy body lotion & soap, jiffy bags& washing up sponges (albeit from Poundland!). So, did really badly on that.
Goals this week:
1) Make many frugal but healthy meals
2) Have 3 no spend days
3) Limit tumble dryer usage to 2 times maximum - make the most of the dry albeit cold windy weather we're having!
4) Try not to say anything negative about money to OH - try & replace with something positive but still remaining realistic about the situation
5) Find something free or *very* cheap to do on Friday/Saturday when my Mum visits...any suggestions very welcome!
6) Add at least one £2 coin to collection if possible and some more to our 1p,2p & 5p tin for grocery voucher swap @ Sainsburys.
Good luck everyone.Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

Hi LookingAhead
I was reading this post and just wanted to say good luckIt is great to see that people are trying to pay off debt as it is a scary thing to do. My 'lightbulb' moment was 10 years ago, £14K debt, all cleared off and now I've saved enough money to buy my first house. It can be done, especially I think with people being supportive. I look forward to your weekly updates

Sell another £50's worth of stuff on eBay (should be easily done, I think) - Done and some - £142 and counting :j
Have 4 spend free days - yep
My weekly budget for this month is £40, but I would like to be able to only spend half of that this week. - Yep - managed to only spend £11.77!
Pay the full coin bags in my coin stash into my savings account (only about £6 in full bags, but every little helps!) - yep
Pay the cheque I received yesterday for £70, and the ones on their way from eBay stuff into bank account, and from there to one of my credit cards. - another yep!
Pay at least £100 off of my credit card (see above) - actually managed £205 :j
Start the ball rolling for my DLA appeal (found out on Friday that they're dropping my benefit by approx £270 p/month from May onwards for no reason I can fathom, as I have got worse, not better since they awarded me the higher amount!) - spoke to the CAB, and have another appointment next week - so... yep!
