Ok - so was the review any good? Should we all be ready to watch it?

    :)

Well it certainly sounded like it would fit with our thinking squeaky - they demonstrated cleaning a sink with vinegar and salt and then talked about cutting food budgets dramatically via planning.
If you have listen again then it was todays prog (thurs 12th)

There's been adverts for this on the BBC, looks interesting. The people on there looked like the kind of people who need a good kick up the backside though! Never heard of the word recyce!

  • This might be of interest - a new programme on BBC2 starting this Thursday - apparently the Tibbetts saved £400 in a fortnight, so they must have been very wasteful!!

    No Waste Like Home
    8:30pm - 9:00pm
    BBC2
    VIDEO Plus+: 8073
    Subtitled, Widescreen

"<British households generate £25 billion of waste every year, of which £20 billion is wasted food. Shocked? In this informative series, household sustainability expert Penney Poyzer guides extravagantly wasteful families (the Tibbetts are the first) through ways of saving energy and money. There are some fairly obvious tips, such as turning down the central heating and washing your clothes at 40°C - they don't get any cleaner in a hotter wash. And there are moments when it's like watching one of those wartime public service announcements lecturing you to turn the lights out. Still, the Tibbetts save £400 in a fortnight. Impressed? >"

Another programme alarmed in Digiguide - I have the feeling I won't be getting much done of a night for the next couple of months! :p
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.
Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • The presenter of this programme will be on BBC Radio 5 between 3pm and 4pm this afternoon (Tuesday 16th). 909 and 693 MW

  • Oh yes please try and watch No Waste Like Home tomorrow and every Thursday for the next 8 weeks BBC 2 20:30 just before Ricky Gervais' Extras. Penney the presenter has become a mate after we she asked us to supply the recycling bins for the show. She's incredibly knowledgeable about eco issues but also very practical and a great laugh too. I haven't seen any of the shows but Penney was saying after the first trial show that the family went through an epiphany and really changed their wasteful behaviour so doesn't seem like it will be car crash tv. I also met one of the students who was on a later show at Glastonbury this year and she said her and her mates were so changed that they went into the community and persuaded restaurants to recycle more.
