I just moved from Tiscali, with their poor supposed 1 meg speed across to plusnet for £14.99 a month for the same (much faster ) 1 meg. Its good because if you already have your hardware you dont need to enter into a 12 month contract, just one month. Its the same price for 2 meg but my line doesnt support it. I can recommend it.0

Hey Gringo buddy
You say "56K Broadband", but 56Kbps internet is NOT broadband, it is a dial-up service. On the assumption that you are on a dial-up (56Kbps) package and you want to shift to broadband, then ALL broadband suppliers will charge you a set-up fee. This fee is charged by BT Wholesale and the broadband supplier will pass this on to the customer. £20 for upgrade sounds like a good deal to me as the majority of suppliers will charge at least £30 for fresh accounts. If on the other hand you meant to say to have "512K Broadband", then i suggest you consider joining https://www.geointernet.co.uk, they charge £13.99 pm for 2Mb connection (no download limits) and you would be able to join them without paying any set-up costs (free migration). Call up Wanapoo and ask for a "MAC Code", give that to your new broadband supplier when you join.
Hope this helps.0 -
the same wanadoo package (ie. 2gb, 2mb) can be got from zazizam for £11.99/£13.99 - depending if you take up their phone combo deal or not0

Hi Gringo,
Sorry to hear of your troubles with wanadoo.....I think that I am in the same position as you having just finished a year contract with wanadoo at 1mbps and 17.99.
Initially, they messed me around with faulty modems for a month but eventually as a gesture of goodwill they gave me the first 2 months free so I only paid for 10 months. Other than that, the connection has been good.
I phoned them this am and requested a MAC code and without question they offered me 6 months of 2mbps at 14.99. They also tried to offer me the wireless and talk package without having to pay the monthly £4 for 12 months but wasn't interested.
I'm happy with that.
I would try ringing them again, if you are on the broadband package and want a faster connection0 -
Just noted something, it's worth sticking with your current "broadband" supplier (wanadoo) because if you switch to another (eg plusnet) because of a faster speed and cheaper connection, you have to pay a line upgrade fee, currently 14.99 with plusnet. I think that this upgrade fee is applicable with a suppliers as the money goes to BT, I think.....I'm sure that someone will be able to correct me if I'm wrong0

I've just upgraded from 1mg to 2mg for £20 with Wanadoo. I've never had any problem with them at all and I think upgrading for that price is a good deal.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Hi,
I called Wanadoo today to check when my contract ended (2meg 2gb limit). It was 1st Dec. I checked if there any offers for their current customers and told definately not. I asked to be put through to Customer Retention.
They offered me a reduction to £14.99 for 3 months or so with no tie in beyond that point, and I said I was interested in Wireless so they gave me that for free for 6 months, again, no tie in beyond that.
A fantastic result IMHO! I'll be staying with them for another 6 months, so by being flexible they have retained a customer.
For anyone having trouble with the call centre people no offering incentives to stay, to just ask for the cancellations/retention dept who have the authority to make offers.
Would be interested if anyone has managed to get a bigger reduction or more free stuff from them?0 -
after taking your advice .I phoned wanadoo and asked for my mac code .I was asked why im leaving, told them ,there are better offers out there.Thay then offerd to put me on the £14.99 package and upgrade to max of 8 meg .
RESULT<<<<<. :T0
