I have to post again!

After years of drinking Tesco own brand vodka (i'm to cheap for anything else) I can now drink something which doesn't taste of nail-varnish remover!

Yes, both are easy.

For the toffee or mars bar vodka (or whatever other flavour you fancy, Milky Ways are good) you can use your cooker instead of a dishwasher. Chop up the mars bar (or toffees etc) and push it into the bottle, put the cap lightly back on, so a little air can escape in and out. Then put the bottle in a big saucepan of hot water on the stove, with a gentle heat under it. Don't boil the crap out of it, you don't want to bubble off the alcohol, just bring it slowly up to temperature so the mars bar or whatever completely melts. Give it a good shake everynow and then, but be careful to put a tea towel over the cap, don't burn yourself! Once it is all disolved, take the bottle out and let it cool, then, bung it in the fridge and get it good and chilled for drinking! Woohoo!

Making vodka jellies is easy too. Heat a bottle of vodka in the same way, in a pan of water on the stove, but this time you want to keep the temperature lower (again, the idea is to *not* boil off any of the alcohol). It should just be very warm for this, not too hot.

Get a packet of regular jelly and make it up with about half the amount of boiling water the instructions say (so half a point of boiling water for a 1 pint jelly). Then, when the jelly is all dissolved pour in the warm vodka to top it up to the proper full amount. Give it a bit of a stir, let it cool for a while then into the fridge to set properly. If you want, before it sets you can pour it into individual glasses or whatever so you get mini jellies for everyone.

You can also make the jelly stronger by using more vodka and less boiling water, but remember to always disolve the jelly first, and not get the alcohol too hot.

I've not found you have to warm the vodka at all, having done some of these over Xmas, just melt down your jelly and add the vodka.... a good idea is to make them in ice cube trays, and you get bite sized jellies out, which are excellent. If youhave the willpower, let them melt in your mouth, otherwise, squish them up in your mouth. :-)

Lemon and lime jelly for vodka, Lemon for gin, and strawberry for brandy..... err.. - I'm told... 'cough'..
