Please dont do it, its NOT a capped/fixed deal. Its the discount thats fixed not the unit rates, see the other thread on this...

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1060109

It also has a cancelation fee, so if you sign up to it and your prices go up (and they will) you will have to pay them to get out of it.
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

what about the Scottish Power deal then?? is that fixed? if i sign up tonight am i still getting the fixed price at todays rates?

If the Scottish power fixed price tariff is still available then go for it. I wouldnt go for the click 5 tariff personally.

That BG fixed rate til 2011 may be tempting but remember this has been released AFTER they announced the price rise and carries a £100 cancelation fee. Its hard to say if priced will drop lower than they are now in the next three years but bear that in mind.

That Southern Electric Fixed discount tariff is just a blatant attempt to con people into signing up to it thinking its a fixed deal then charging them to get out of it when their prices go up. I think its bang out of order of SE to delibrately try to mislead people like that.

It seems like Plush Chris needs to get his facts straight 1st before commenting on SSE tariffs.
We do not blatently con people into signing up for it. If someone is intrested in it we do explain fully what it involves & that it is NOT a fixed rate tariff. It is a TRACKER tariff which means whatever the price is this will make it 2% cheaper. We DO NOT delibrately mislead people with it either.
I should know i work for the company

From the number of people posting on threads on this site who believe that this tariff is a fixed tariff there has to be an element of confusion in the wording if not a complete con.
If you are the Southern electric spokesman can you say why the uswitch site when dispaying details of this tariff state "prices fixed until 2010". Would you say that was a con? What have you done to remove that info?Would you say that has persuaded people to switch to this tariff?

PS I have just checked and that info is still displayed on uswitch.

In answer to Leedspete - It just tracks the current unit price then knocks off 2% eg If price went up by 10% you would only pay 8%

In answer to Notbritishgas - No i`m not a spokesperson. This is an apparant error on their part. They are independant site & have been notified of issue

I spoke to one of the SSE team about this tariff on Monday. When I asked what it would cost me to get the fixed rate, he very reluctantly and sulkily advised me that it would cost me £100 to change from my current package with SSE, and another £100 if I chose to go to another supplier before the end of the fixed term. When I did my sums I realised there was nothing in it for me and I believe it is misleading information, suggesting to customers they will benefit when in real terms they will not.
