Problem with this is these are not 'capped' prices, they are 'fixed' prices.
A Capped price should come down if general prices drop, but not rise above the capped point.
Now whilst it seems unlikely that utility prices will fall much, we said that just 2 weeks ago about petrol, but that has come down a bit in the last few days.
Are they truly tying you in, with penalties if you move, or can you take the fixed rate, but switch for free later?I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.0 -
That tariff from SE isnt even a fixed tariff, its misleading title that would fool people into thinking it is fixed.
Its actually the discount thats fixed, you could sign up to that one and have the prices go up by 40% and you would be stuffed.
I really think SE have done this to fool people into a tariff they think is fixed then charge them when they want to leave, AVOID!Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -

It is a shame that the Scottish and Southern group of energy companies should resort to this play on words which may fool people, as up to now they have been quite high in my estimation for customer service.0 -
Your comments on this have made me see the light, and consequently i think i will be going for Scottish Power.
Thanks.0 -
Thank you. I was drawn in by the FIXED terminology.... but will now go for Scottish Power.

Thanks.
What's bad is that uSwitch, MoneySupermarket etc all include SE's 'fixed discount' product as a fixed/capped product whenit isnot.
When you tick to only see fixed/capped products on energy comparison sites, this product should not show up.
Don't be fooled by the use of the word fixed in the product's title!0
