I was in Asda today and they have a new compost bin in, I think its new to them. Its £15, I think thats a good price, a black plastic one, don't know the size, but not small.
Also Focus were selling those small 4 tier mini greenhouses, the ones you can put 4 growbags in, on shelves, for £12.99 ish. Wilkinsons have them in for £20 atm.

Before buying a compost bin from asda, check with environmental services at your local council as I know a lot of them have done deals to allow residents to buy these bins at cost which is cheaper than price quoted.:j
  • My council do the standard ones for £6 and the big ones for £20. Its worth checking with your local council as they are usually keen for you to compost: its less for them to take away!
  • i got one of the mini greenhouses a few weeks ago. still not put it up though it's been far too windy here
    Car £1500
    Parents £5000
    Barclaycard £900.68
    + 127,000 Mortgage
    all on my lonesome
  • Thanks for the tip about getting the compost bin from the council. I've just been onto the website and a 330 litre one is £10, but you save a pound for ordering on line - and they deliver it - brilliant!!

The last one I bought was about £30 and I had to get it home in the car.
    THANKS!!

    Love this web site!:j

I've just had a look and I can get the same bins from the council for the same price £10 each and £1 off online.
My 2 are going back to Asda then :D
    Thanks!

Heres the link btw, you can put your postcode in to see if your council does the cheap thing.

Great post from tight jock. I checked my council site and ended up at the recylenow page. £6 for 220ltr and £8 for 330ltr. Plus, I get a free 5lt silver caddy!
  • We love our caddy, it does a pretty good job of containing the kitchen debris and when it gets too full and the lid won't shut, it's like an automatic whiffy reminder to take it out to the heap.

Maybe someone can report if the recyclenow delivery times have improved lately? I ordered bins at the end of September and they took a good 2 months to arrive (was expecting it to be 14-28 days).

Good luck to you if you can get one from recyclenow - bunch of cowboys. I ordered one in November, still waiting for it despite several phone calls and emails.

Ah, that might explain why I haven't received a confirmation email from them. I hope that something arrives because I don't think that I got any reference no.

I did notice in the T&Cs a condition explaining that IF it takes more than 28 days there will be an option to cancel.
