Vodafone - Have their customer services given up?
I've been with Vodafone for nearly 18 months now and have had technical problems with my phone for the entire time.
However, being a lover of shiny new things, I was tempted to stay with them when I thought I might be able to upgrade to the new Nokia N95.
Sadly, Vodafone wanted me to pay £279 to upgrade to this model, even though they are offering the same phone to new customers on my tariff for less than half that amount, and other mobile providers are offering it for significantly less again.
4 phone calls later, and not one Vodafone employee has even attempted to get me to stay with them. The cancellation fax went off to them yesterday as I've finally had enough.
I'm curious, have Vodafone just given up trying to hold on to customers?
Oh, and I should point out that my bills are paid on time by Direct Debit and have been for the entire contract, so I don't have a poor history with them.

Now I found their PAYG people very hepful. I've managed to use them to port out of then back into T mobile contracts.
The only issue I had with them was that I was told I had to stay with them for a month before porting out - not something that was mentioned when I specifically asked the question before porting into them. I challenged them on this and they buckled. I am now ported back to T Mobile.
My guess is that all you dissatisfied customers will need PAC codes.
The freephone number for this is 0808 0945945. My call was answered very quicklyBehind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

He should write to their MD the refer the matter to OFCOM.
they HAVE to give him the option of coming out of the contract if he is not happy with the changes.
A few years ago T Mobile started charging for itemised billing. I contacted them to termiate my contract under contract law that covers this area. They did acknowledge that they had to give the right to cancel under tese circumstances. It suited me actually because I had just taken out a new contract with 3.
If it's PAYG then I don't think he's got much hope but its worth a try
I think Vodafone are actually in trouble. IIRC they were losing money hand over fistBehind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -

Well, I've been given two fax numbers. They are:
08701 699660 - That, so I'm led to believe, is the fax number for the disconnection department.
However, I was also given the fax number 01635 234513, which I'm told is for the team who provide the PAC codes, allowing you to take your number with you to another provider.
For your reading delight, here is the sequence of events since Wednesday.
1. Wednesday. Sent a fax at 14:30 to the first number. Realised that I hadn't signed it.
2. Wednesday. Sent a second fax, signed this time, to the same number at 14:32.
3. Thursday. Phoned up in the evening to enquire about the state of play. Was told that the fax had been received and everything was fine. I'd receive the PAC the following day (Friday).
4. Friday. Got to work in the morning and found a fax from Vodafone - my original unsigned fax with a message scrawled on the bottom saying "Please sign and fax back to 01635 234513. Thanks."
5. Friday. Phoned Customer Services to ask whether they'd received the second signed fax. Apparently not, it had mysteriously disappeared. Asked why they'd advised me the previous day that everything was in hand and they didn't have an answer.
6. Friday. Sent a third fax at 9:52.
7. Friday. Phoned them at 10:30 to ask if the fax had been received. They checked their system and identified who I'd spoken to but were unable to connect me with the person in question. When I asked why, they said "We just can't". I then asked to speak to a supervisor and they said that an escalation form would be filled in and I'd get a call within 2 hours.
8. Friday. Got a call after 5 minutes. Was advised to send another fax to the supervisor who would bypass the usual system and ensure that I got my PAC later that day.
9. Friday. Sent a fourth fax at 10:35 to the supervisor.
10. Friday. Voicemail received at 13:20 stating that the fax had been received and was going to be sent to the appropriate team and that I'd get a phone call when it had been actioned.
11. Friday. Phoned Customer Services (oh, the irony of that name) at 18:11 to enquire about the elusive PAC code. Was informed that it hadn't been actioned and, sadly, the PAC code team had left at 6. They assured me, however, that I'd get a call at 9:00 on Monday morning to give me the code.
Phew!
So, you see, after three days, four faxes, and countless minutes sitting listening to their 'hold music', I'm still no nearer receiving the PAC code which, I am reliably informed, is something that they can get hold of in a matter of minutes if they put their minds to it.
I am incandescent with rage...
Vodafone have provided me with a problematic phone line that I've tried to have resolved for the last 18 months, have consistently failed to extend me an iota of decent customer service, and are now failing yet again to live up to their promises on an almost daily basis.
Apologies for the length of the rant, but it feels good.0 -

There's always going to be variance in what operators offer their customers. Promotional deals come on and off all the time. Its not only Vodafone that change their promotions. I've seen it with TMobile & Orange over the past few years.
Hope you manage to sort out your PAC though!0
