Hi all,
I've got some kind of spyware on my laptop called MBS account services. A pop up comes up everytime the laptop comes on asking us to pay £39.99 for a subscription for mysexworld or something like that (even though nothing has been subscribed to). The pop up locks so I can't close it and it will only be minimized for a few seconds. A shortcut has also appeared on the desktop.
I stayed up last night to follow the instructions in the sticky by browntoa to remove spyware but it's still on here! I could see that some of the scans did pick it up and it should have been quarantined but when I started the laptop back up in normal mode it was still there!
I'm just running an online scan through ewido and it's found this: Trojan.Agent.afi [2308] c:\windows\system32\rmvalid.exe
Does anyone have any suggestions please? It's driving me mad!
Thanks in advance
Sam

Download a self-extracting copy of HijackThis from here …….
http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis_sfx.exe
Save it to your Desktop.
Double-click on the file hijackthis_sfx.exe file and it will self-extract into its own folder ……
C:\Program Files\HijackThis
Go to this folder and run the hijackthis.exe file.
From the menu click on "Do a system scan and save a logfile".
Copy and paste the HJT logfile to this thread. More specific removal instructions will follow for any malware revealed.

This has been dealt with in length on this thread:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=456338
Seems the simplest thing that works is simply doing a system restore."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

My sister in law's lodger caused the same problem recently! I had to use the brute force unistaller to get rid of it. This link gives instructions
http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/lofiversion/index.php/t11634.html
It worked for her - I would set a system restore point first.0 -
It's worth noting that you can speed up your computer in the short term by pressing ctrl, alt and del, then removing rmvalid.exe from the processes tab. It is designed to use up all your CPU power.0
