I have applied for a debt consolidation loan and I had an email from them saying this::

f you are applying for a debt consolidation loan you should read this.

I thought this may be a scam as the spelling on the email is a bit dodgy but I then looked
in the local advertiser and there is an advert from a "debt disposal team" advising that they
can do the same, but for £295. This advert looks ok, but i'm still very wary, has anyone had
any similar emails, has any one tried this????? :confused:

    But I wonder if anyone has had any success with this? Or just lost the £295 ?
  • Hi was wondering if you managed to find out anymore about this. Would be very interested to hear.

    Why pay £295 when you can do it yourself for free?????? Hop over to the Debt Free Wannabe board and look for threads on CCA requests.

    CCA = Consumer Credit Agreement.
  • Hi,

    I actually spoke with Grosvenor Debt Management on their freephone http://www.mybestdebtadvice.co.uk/

    Simply put they claim to have underwriters who look at your credit agreements to see if your application for a loan, credit card or HP agreement has specific wording that would render the document unenforceable under the current Consumer Credit Act.

    When I pressed the nice lady on types of products from certain banking institutions she could not give me specific details or successes.

    She did say though that the process would take approximately 60 days and that you have to submit a document authorising then to obtain your credit agreements from your bank/credit card company...when you pay the £365 fee!!! Which you can also put on your credit card??!!!

    The question is this, does this legality actually exist?

    Don’t think the banks will let you off lightly, if you do succeed they are in their legal right to fcuk up your credit rating for screwing them over, why cant you just pay back the debt? If you are struggling I would suggest declaring yourself bankrupt at least then you will not get a bean for at least six years and you may have learned a valuable lesson by then....don’t eat yellow snow!

    Remember,do not worry about our small £295.00 fee.Just pay it on one of your credit cards before we get the debt written off :cool:
