Lidl "car park" sales

Aparently, Lidl very occasionally have a sales of returns and odds and ends held in a store car park.
There had been some handwritten advertising in the store during the previous week, so I went out of interest. Got there for 8, and it was bedlam with the space between the rows of boxes solid with full trolleys and people waiting to pay.
No receipts, haggling over the price of a partial trolley - full trolley for 20UKP.
It's hosted by their staff, and there were about 40 large carboard boxes filling a pallet each, set out in two rows with a cashier at the end.
All sorts of (non-food) things: I got three pairs of ice skates, a cooks gas gun, three glass pepper mills, and a desk vice for 10UKP. All unused.
It was an incredible scrum to get at anything, and three hours later you'd never know it had happened.
I do wonder just how ligit it was...

So you're saying it was £20 if you used a trolley irrespective of what was in it or how many items, but only £5 for as much as you could carry in your arms in a single visit to the checkout ?
Only you only mentioned "No receipts, haggling over the price of a partial trolley - full trolley for 20UKP"There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93

It's not really a trolley dash,at the outside till they make a educated guess at how much they think the trolley full of items should cost you.........but it always seems to be in your favour..................Political?....I dont do Political....well,not much!0

I've been to one local to me before - we filled a trolly, there were cushions, rugs, set of saucepans, knife blocks, a huge tool set, storage boxes, wrapping paper....you name it we got it - £10 for the lot.
They really are worth the scrum - take a friend (or well behaved hubby) to stand at the side out of the way and hold the stuff you pick up - saves trying to get a trolly into the crowds."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Our local Lidl's usually price up the Large boxes at 50p or 10p per item - it's usually mad, but great for stocking up for Xmas/ car boots etcI'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!0

the Lidl car park sale I went to was far more organised, they'd shipped in specific products for it and although we went and got an MP3 player which was a bargain they had a proper till and checkout. I wish they had one of these types instead. My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

I used to work for lidl and can remeber the absolute chasos these events were.
What you tend to find is that lots of shopkeepers arrive and take as much as they and their ''friend'' can carry.
I can remeber for weeks afterwards that all I could see was all the lidl stuff I sold through the tills turning up in local shops with a very generous percentage upmark price
I suppose you can't really blame them - ITS ONLY GOOD BUSINESS0
