Julian Hodge Bank ISA

Options
I am looking at switching to a new ISA. My regular saver account ends in february and i already have £3000 from last year in a barclays ISA. Due to the constant fall in interest rate i am looking for a high fixed rate ISA. The highest i found is at the Julian Hodge Bank, i dont know anything about it and have never heard of it before. The ISA is at 4.5% fixed for 1 year. I wondered if anyone had any knowledge about them.

Also i wondered if i could open another ISA account in the next tax year without having to close and transfer this years account if i do go for this fixed ISA?
What will happen to the Julian Hodge ISA next year when the 12 month expires; can that be transfered into my other ISA account of 2009/2010 if i have opened one?
this is so confusing

If you have no Cash ISA's for 2008/9 you can put £3,600 into a cash ISA and fix it at that rate (which is pretty good at the moment) - this would be fixed for 1 year with no withdrawals.

Yes for 2009/10 tax year you could also open another Cash ISA and pay a further £3,600 into this. When the JHB ISA term finishes, I think you have the choice to transfer out or re-invest in another FRISA with JHB. As long as your new (2009/10) allows transfers in you could bring both together if you want to.

My dealings with JHB haven't had any problems, however please see attached thread, there is a negitive comment there. Anybody got any comments re JHB???

It's down to 4% for a 1 year fix now, i had a 1 year fix with them last year and had no problems although it's always worth checking the rate over the phone

I applied for one yesterday then realised that afternoon they had reduced the rate. i called them and they said because i applied that day i would get the 4.25%. i was quite lucky this time but i still need to wait for the confirmation. this happened to me with the barclays isa; managed to get it at 7.75% cos i applied in december. guess i'm getting lucky with my money saving at the moment! :D

  • I've just deposited my Icesave ISA funds into their fixed, fortunately in time for the 4.25% rate. It took less than a week from sending the Icesave Cert., transfer form and cheque until I received the confirmation letter. This shows a comparison to the trouble others have been experiencing with ex Icesave ISAs using the bigger bloated banks. Julian Hodge, in my experience are top notch, their CS reps are efficient, professional and knowldgeable too. I also have a Capital Millenium Bond and earlier fixed ISA with them. If the FSCS limit were higher I'd have a lot more with JH.
JH will write before the 12 months to advise options and as a reminder. The funds can be transferred out, penalty free, to another provider if required. It's all in the information and ts & cs.
