i did a search for the last post where i got my initial info from but it came up with nothing. Anyways, i emailed the address that was provided feedback@inview.co.uk and got the reply. I think it is genuine.
Hi
We are setting up the user panel to enable us to obtain feedback on what banners are being looked at and used in the TV Listings Guide on the teletext Extra service.
All you would need to do once a week is go to a special screen on the Teletext Extra TV guide and follow the instructions provided. The screen will give you a series of letters and numbers which you will need to send by text message to telephone number 07797 800360 just once a week on a Monday.
In return for your assistance, provided you send the informaation once a week for a minimum of 48 weeks in a year, you will receive £50.00 Marks and Spencer vouchers once a year and in addition to this we will be running a prize draw once a month where you could win a TV or one of three other smaller prizes.
Please read the attached information on what you would need to do & then please email feedback@inview.co.uk to ask any questions & to confirm that you are happy to proceed on this basis. I will also need your address, phone number & mobile phone number. Once I get your email I will arrange for a set top box & your user number to be sent to you. The freeview box you will receive only has one scart connection.
Regards

I got a email from them today no mention of a freeview box only a attachment with the email enclosed below
Inview Interactive User Panel
Inview are working with Teletext to provide a new enhanced on-screen TV listings service on Freeview, called Teletext Extra.
This new service will feature a sophisticated Electronic Programme Guide which will provide viewers with fully programmable 14 day listings and extensive preview and programme information. In addition it will carry direct links to an enhanced Teletext service. The guide is currently being rolled out to set-top boxes made by most of the major manufacturers.
Part of the EPG in Teletext Extra is dedicated to banners promoting new programmes, series, channels and other TV related material which viewers may be interested in. Some of the banners invite the user to press a button on their remote control in order to see more detailed information in a full screen format if they are interested in viewing it.
It is very important for the broadcasters who use these banners that they can get an idea of which banners are being displayed on TVs and whether viewers are choosing to view the extra information pages. That’s why we have set up the User Panel so that this information can be retrieved.
If I join the User Panel, what must I do?
You will need a mobile phone to text the information to a standard rate number supplied to you. Tel 07797 800360
You must use Teletext Extra as the EPG on the main TV in your house
You will need to leave the set top box in standby.
You need to access a special screen within the Teletext Extra TV guide as follows:
Whilst viewing TV on a Teletext Extra enabled set-top box, press the GUIDE or EPG button to enter the Teletext Extra EPG
Press the BLUE button to access the menu
Select (using the up and down arrow keys) the Help option
With the Help page showing, press (in sequence)[PR -] [PR +] [OK] on your remote
control.
The screen will ask you for your user number which you will have already been given and will consist of 6 numbers, you will need to type this in using the number keys on the remote control. You will then be shown another screen which asks you to send a text message (from any mobile phone) to this number 07797 800360. The text message you need to send will be shown on your TV and will consist of a sequence of letters and numbers.
Once you have sent the message you will receive a message back confirming receipt. If you have entered it incorrectly you will receive a message back saying that there was a problem with what you sent, in which case you will be asked to re-type the message and send it again.
How often will I need to do it?
We would like you to send a message once a week on a Monday, If you are late or early by a day or so it doesn’t matter. The service will start on 12th October 2007 and we would like to receive your first report on Monday 15th October, although you can join the user panel anytime after this date.
What’s my incentive to take part?
We would like to reward you by giving you £50.00 of Marks and Spencer vouchers once a year to say thank you for your assistance. In addition we will have a prize draw once a month where one person each month will win a TV and three other people will win a smaller prize each. In order to be eligible for the Marks and Spencer vouchers you will need to send the information for a minimum of 48 weeks of the year. Information on the results of the draw will be available on request.
Do I have to do anything else?
From time to time we may ask you to fill out and return a paper questionnaire regarding your use of Teletext Extra.
The only other requirement is that you use Teletext Extra as part of your regular TV viewing on the main TV and that you leave your box in standby.0 -
This offer has come to an end.0

i got that attachment poppycat but im pretty certain you'd need a special type of box to get all the codes up etc.
oh well it says i should get something in the next few days... will let you know if i do.0 -
Thats the only communication I got from them the email which you mentioned in first post and then the attachment which I posted above0
-
I posted details of this offer the other day but for some reason of which I am unaware (despite having emailed the administrator) the posting disappeared from the site. Hence your search results (or lack thereof).
Anyway just to say that I received my Freeview box this morning. It is an “ALBA STB8 DVB-T SET TOP BOX” for the benefit of those to whom that might mean something.0 -
I hope the previous post answered any questions adam2484 had.
Poppycat just to clarify on the issue of communications: I received the email which adam2484 has posted along with the attachment you have detailed.
I replied as requested to this email with the details they asked for and received the following reply:
From: Feedback [mailto:feedback@inview.co.uk]

Subject: RE: User Panel
Hi
That is great thanks.
Your user number is {EDITED}, we will send you a box, if you have any queries when sending your user panel report please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email feedback@inview.co.uk
We will send reminders to mobile numbers, please do not respond to this as the number is only monitored for data rather than text.

My reply was earlier the same day as their reply (see above).
i.e 7th November - I reply with my address etc.
7th November - They reply with user number & promise to send box
9th November - Postman delivers box0 -
While we are talking chronology can I also mention that immediately I made the original post on the 7th people were posting that the offer was closed quoting the same source as Toxic Bunni above.
Now let me make it clear that I have no idea whether the offer is now closed or if not when it is due to close. However as I replied in the original (now deleted) thread I never looked at the Teletext website myself; but from the speed someone posted this fact (minutes after my original post) it is probable that I applied myself after this was on their website. In any case it is apparent that several of you (on both threads) have applied and been promised boxes after this time.
If someone has received a negative reply from Inview or does so then it would obviously be useful if they post that information. However as long as Inview seem happy to reply positively it would be a shame if people are put off trying with a quick email.0
