Hi
I currently go to a farm shop to buy my fruit and veg each week, but it takes me about 25 mins to get there and back, and is sometimes a real pain in the a**e!
So, I am thinking about getting a box delivered.
Can you please tell me if you get one, what you get (roughly) in it each week and how much it costs? I live in Shropshire.
I would prefer organic if poss.
Thanks!

Have you tried looking on https://www.bigbarn.co.uk for deliveries in your area. Many of them seem to vary hugely. I don't get a set box and choose my own off the van so can't comment on what to expect to pay.One day I might be more organised...........

we buy from https://www.riverford.co.uk they have various partners but even if they don't deliver to you they have lists of what's in their boxes so it gives you an idea of the sorts of things you'll get and how much it costs (click on 'this week's boxes'). We've used Abel and Cole in the past too when we couldn't get a delivery elsewhere and they had a good selection but the quality wasn't always good and because they use regular couriers things were sometimes squashed. You should have some choice in Shropshire on a quick google I came up with
http://www.boxfreshorganics.co.uk/index.php
http://www.organicbyorder.co.uk/
http://www.pimhillorganic.co.uk/
and there are more...
I've found that having one where I can manage my order online suits me but some people don't care if it's by phone or on an order form - as with all things it's only good value if you use it all but some schemes will do substitutions if you don't like a particular thing which can help.
oh and we do ours fortnightly in winter and weekly in summer as that seems to suit better.0 -
Thanks Justie, boxfreshorganics looks good and they already deliver to my area! I may well be doing this.
I appreciate your help everyone :-)0 -
Thanks also Justie, have been meaning to find out the name of a supplier featured in our local newspaper (Wrexham) a couple of weeks ago. Couldn't for the life of me remember.
Have checked out your links and it's boxfreshorganics so many thanks to you, I have just placed an order with them. Will have to wait until next Friday for it to be delivered but I feel like a big kid with something special to look forward to!

is it all good quality in there, sorry its just that i like to choose my own but a friend has one delievered once week and she swears by it.think im just paranoid bout getting rotting veg:eek::xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I wouldn't imagine that they would deliver rotten stuff as they want to keep your business. With the majority of the produce that these places sell being locally grown, I can see no reason why anything would be rotten, but who knows?
