Stelios has launched https://www.easymobile.com

Opening offers of 9p per minute calls to any Uk network and 3p texts up to the end of June.

For £20 you get a sim card with £20 of call credit.

Apparently piggy backs onto T-Mobile network

No line rental - but minimum use of £5 over 3 months otherwise 75p per month.

Website looks a bit naff, but might give it a go.

You can choose your own number to some degree.

1st post, but I have been a luker for a while :-)

BTW thanks to the OP re: Viking Direct £19.99 computer desks and free coffee maker.

Martin - perhaps one for your next newsletters?

Cheers

Although Fresh from the Carphone Warehouse is going to undercut Easymobile:

(admittedly, the offer will be reviewed after 3 months)
  • Thought that both of these Easymobile & Fresh were just the price within their own virtual networks. From the CPW statement appears to be all xnet calls as well - can someone confirm ?

    CPW statement

From tomorrow, Friday 11th March, Fresh is offering customers a 7.5p rate for all UK calls to any mobile or landline at any time and 2.5p for all texts, delivered through double top ups in store. This is half Fresh's previous tariffs.

    ALL XNET!! can confirm

fresh has the tariff ONE RATE

one rate because its ONE RATE for all calls

    15p a min to local/national or ANY UK MOBILE NUMBER (orange/bt/tmob/voda/o2/virgin e.t.c)
    and 5p per sms

BUT... What they will be doing is giving you double top ups... if you put £10 on they will double it it halves the rates of the calls you pay

    7.5p calls
    2.5p sms

it really is a great deal!!
if i had known then what i know now

Gotta love easymobile's website though - it's so amateurish.

    "Text's" and "voice call's" - apostrophes 'r' us.

Mhh yeah and they charge you 40p to put money on your account. I suppose this is an incentive to put more money on rather than a fiver each time.

The minimum usage thing is also a bit of a problem if you're a low-user (like my wife who just has it for emergencies).

Tesco mobile is better because they charge 20ppm at all times to landlines and mobiles. But better still they let you choose 3 numbers (landline or mobile)for 10ppm at all times. One of the 3 numbers could be the 0207 access number to 18866.com which would allow you to route all of your UK landline calls for around 11ppm at all times. Mobile call could be routed for 14ppm on Saturdays and Sundays via 18866.com, or 12ppm using 1899.com.

  • Steve - I fail to see the logic - surely Fresh are better, since its 7.5p a minute anywhere. You could use the 18866/1899 overrides for landline at 7.5p to Fresh and again at w/es for 25% cheaper than Tesco. I know this is only for the next 3 months but still a better deal than Tesco surely ? The only way its not is if Fresh block the 18866 etc overrides ?

Yes, as you say it's only for 3 months, whereas Tesco's offer seems pemanent. So, you're right, until and if the offer from Fresh ends.

Virgin Mobile (who also use the T-mobile network) charge 15ppm for first 5 mins a day of calls to landlines/other Virgin Mobile phones then 5ppm afterwards, and you can call xnet for 15ppm through telesavers etc (see this thread). No line rental or monthly minimum.

Also they have FREE access to voicemail, excellent customer service and you can pay by e-topup, credit/debit card, or direct debit. If you pay by direct debit you also get itemised billing either by mail or online at no extra charge.

and no I don't work for Virgin Mobile, I'm just a satisfied customer... :)

And finally, for a company website to misuse apostrophes is inexcusable...

Yes that's fine if you're happy with Virgin.

Though I note that a five minute mobile to Virgin or UK landline call would cost you 75p, whereas with Tesco it would be 55p. Only when you've notched up 8 minutes do you start to benefit from the Virgin tariff.
