£1 million Devon property raffle...

Not sure were to put this... Please move the post if needed, but thought it might be good to post here first rather than the competitions board.

I saw this earlier http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1029930/Yours-25-Homeowner-sells-raffle-tickets-1m-property-losing-12-000-month.html
Yours for £25: Homeowner sells raffle tickets for £1m property that is losing £12,000 a month

What a novel idea in the current market... Maybe it'll catch on?

I've entered, what the heck. It might be the best £25 I ever spent :D and better odds than the lotto.

What guarantee do you get that it's a genuine competition though?

Basically you have sent £25 to someone with no guarantee of winning anything?! They could just close down their paypal account when they have a decent amount.. ?

I could be wrong though, it has been known :tounge:

I'm sure that they would land in serious trouble since theres fairly strong coverage in the media. There are T&C which set out what happens etc. Its on the Times website too: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2205266/Homeowner-raffles-his-and1631m-property-to-beat-credit-crunch.html

Could it breach the PayPal acceptable use policy?
    5. involve gambling and/or gaming activities, including, but not limited to casino games, sports betting, horse or greyhound racing, lottery tickets, certain games of skill, and other ventures that facilitate gambling unless the operator has obtained prior approval from PayPal and the operator and customers are located exclusively in jurisdictions where such gambling activities are permitted by law.

Probably got approval.... If its been done properly, and it looks like it has, They would have ticked all the boxes first.
"unless the operator has obtained prior approval from PayPal " It was a Paypal business account, not personal.

Dodgy unless you have a large bankroll spare. Even if this is genuine and you were to win -look at what you win. A business that is loosing 12k - if it were not loosing hand over fist the current owners would sell it the normal way, or split it up and sell in parcels wouldn't they? You could win a pig in a poke that will dump you into debt too!
If they sell privately, or don't get enough cash from the raffle ticket take up, then they can withdraw from the whole project & have lots of people trying to get their stake back - nooo thank you

I've a property I can't sell too - not sure of it's current value but must be worth well over £1m, especially bearing in mind it's location.

Anyone interested in buying a raffle ticket off me, only £25 each? :D

Oh a picture of the property in case you're interested, more pictures available on request
