Some of the flyladies have decided to have a week long declutter mission. To prevent the very long weekly flylady thread from getting unmanageable we have kindly been allowed to have a separate thread for this week only (thanks PenPen and fellow BGs).

Everybody is welcome, regular flylady or not. I'm hoping that whatever stage of decluttering you are at, nearly at the end, just beginning or have got disheartened in the past that this thread will inspire and focus you to make progress.

I thought we could work along the lines of wedding anniversaries for no real reason but to make it more focused so:

1st Paper Monday
Anything to do with paperwork/photos/boxes of cards/kids pictures/books/magazines etc
Remeber some paperwork needs to be kept for certain periods of times
Shread confidential waste - this can be used in the compost/wormery; for pet bedding or packing up those ebay sales you will be making later in the week.
Please recycle all other paper where possible.

2nd Cotton Tuesday
Clothes - anybody's for charity/rehoming or ebay but not creating piles!
If it has not been worn in a year is it ever likely to be?
Do you have summer/spring clothes stashed away which you could sort out?
Are some of your winter clothes really past their best?
Are there items not being worn because they are waiting to be mended/defuzzed? If so get that done this evening and start wearing them
Anything that needs drycleaning take to the cleaners.
Clothes which cannot be reworn can be bagged and labelled as rags and placed in the supermarket clothing banks or given to charity shops - they still get cash from the rag man.

3rd Leather Wednesday
Handbag sorting/putting away/rehoming
including camping stuff/sleeping bags/sporting equipment
shoes/boots - do any need reheeling/polishing/waterproofing
Shoe banks for recycling are in lots of supermarket carparks
Sort through belts and accessories.
Have you filled another bag for the charity shop yet?

4th Linen Thursday
Linen and airing cupboards
Towels give them a good sort; Vets often want old towels
Do not keep stuff just in case.
Sort all your bedding, do you need that many spare sets
Piles of spare nets and curtains again do you use them?
Cushions - any lumpy horrid ones to get rid of?
Napkins and Tablecloths you never use.
Again recycle/charity shop/rehome/sell but do not stash.

5th Wood Friday
Can include toys
Sorting sheds
Tidying or restocking your woodstore
DIY jobs
Sorting cupboards/drawers
Desk drawer sort out

6th Iron Saturday
Cleaning out the car removing all the clutter from the boot and side pockets
Sorting your heavy metal records
Sorting your baking tins/cast iron pans
Golf irons - yes that's on my list
Cutlery drawers and all those utensils you never use
Are all the bikes ready for spring, now could be a good time to sell any which are nolonger used.
Garden tools/lawnmowers again get them ready for spring and any you do not use ebay/freecycle or recycle at the metal part of your local dump

7th Day of rest! Almost lets pamper Sunday
Sort out your toiletries/make up bag and enjoy a bath decluttering all those bath bombs/face packs/trail samples/candle lit of course!
Throw away stuff which has been open for a good while, gooey mascara and nail polish.
Not long now until you can start using the fake tan and need the sunscreen so your final declutter is a good exfoliate.

The list is ideas only - nobody is expected to do it all in a week! However much time and energy you have will make a difference. Good Luck.

Final note - please try to recycle/rehome/charity shop/sell wherever possilbe:D

The next 7 days of decluttering ideas can be found in this post

Talk about timing - this is fantastic. We had some bad news at the beginning of last week, and so to cope with the stress I was feeling I baked - for Britain!!! My freezer is now full of cakes, cookies all ready for the next School Cake Sale!!!

My plan of action for this week to help keep me busy rather than sitting around and destroying my hard dieting action was to completely sort through everything in the house. I'm organising a Jumble Sale at the end of March and I want to be rid of a lot of stuff. (I'm not totally insane though - anything that is too good for a jumble I'll sell first!!!) I'm starting tomorrow and will be going from room to room sorting it all out including the garage. Then next week to keep me busy I'm planning on refreshing the paint - just magnolia, but at least it will hide the finger marks.
My third week will be getting all the curtains and linings etc washed and rehung - complete with probable new linings.

Monday - All rooms & cupboards upstairs -DONE YIPEE
Tuesday - ooops kind of fell by the wayside!
Wednesday - Lounge; childrens toys & kitchen & utility - DONE YIPEE
Thursday - Garage & garden & porch cupboard!!!!
    Friday - Do all paperwork

    Many thanks for this xx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Hi

Can you add me to the list aswell please - I might find flying alot easier if some of the hot/grot spots were sorted and it bothers me to see them and I have plenty of them that I keep walking around and have now got to the point where I am sick of them [moan moan whinge] Anyway, I might give the flying a miss this week so I can concentrate on this list and then I can go back to flying and be better at it [do I sound an@l] don't tell Piggers or Toots please lol
