Hi, does anyone know if it is possible to freeze coconut milk, in ice cube trays etc? My son is having to go on a dairy free diet for a couple of months, and thinks soya milk is not too good for males. I thought coconut milk might be nice for his porridge, but wondered if I could freeze the rest of the can.
I would be grateful for any tips, as I don`t want to waste it.

Freeze it in an ice cube tray then you can just get out small amounts when you need to.
I have never tried it, but you can freeze juice, vegetable stock and soup so I don't see why not.
Anyway it won't harm you, the worst that will happen is that it will deteriorate in quality.0 -
It seems that coconut milk can be frozen:

I've never heard that soya milk is bad for men - the only thing that I can imagine is that your son has heard that soya contains plant estrogens but these will not cause him to grow moobs!
In fact, some studies suggest that soya can help prevent prostate cancer:
"
Soya foods may prevent and/or slow the growth of prostate cancer. Some studies indicate that even one glass of Soya milk everyday is enough to provide your prostate with the protective benefits of soy.
Research has shown that Soya isoflavones (components of soy protein) inhibit the growth of cancer cells. (1) Soya may also prevent the proliferation of tumors. (2) In some test tube studies, isoflavones were also shown to increase the effectiveness of certain cancer drugs. (3) According to a study at Loma Linda University, men who consumed Soya milk at least once per day had a 70% reduced risk of developing prostate cancer."0 -
I freeze coconut milk without any problems.
We buy it in the big catering tins (lot cheaper then standard size) from Wing Yip (or other chinese supermarket) then split it down into the correct portion size DH and I need for making Thai curries0 -
Coconut milk is nice, but obviously contains some saturated fat.
Soya milk does contain plant oestrogens, but these are actually pretty good, 'mopping up' excess human oestrogen. The bad oestrogens are those found in softened plastics, which can lower sperm count and mobility, amongst other things.0 -
Coconut milk is very high in saturated fat. It is not a long term solution for milk replacement unless you want a heart attack.

Rice milk is lighter and if you're lucky enough to have shops that stock almond milk that is LUSH0
