    Sugar 2 tbsp

    Hello

COuld I possibly get some advice (and if this is the wrong board, I do apologise)

My parents have just lent me their Cookworks BM, as a precursor to maybe getting my own. Unfortunately I have no instructions or recipies.

Does any one know where I might be able to get hold of some instructions, or a basic foolproof recipie that could get me started?

    Many thanks :)

    Thanks for that!

Do you just bung everything in and switch it on?!?! This is my first experience of a BM (usually make bread by hand) and have no idea!

    Hi.
Yes just put everything in in the order that it is written down and switch on.
You should have different settings such as medium crust or dark crust just choose the one that you prefer.
You can also buy ready mixed bags of bread mixture that you just put in and add water I prefer the taste of these to the ones in the recipe books.

The basic white recipe is 290ml Water, 2 tbsp sugar, 2tbsp oil, 1 1/2 tsp salt, 3 tbsp milk powder, 3 cups bread flour, 2 tsp yeast. Have fun baking.

    cheese, onion and herb bread.

    Ingredients:
    =============

    • 275ml/9oz Water(tepid)
    • 450g/1lb Strong white bread flour
    • 22.5ml/1 ½ tbsp Dried milk powder
    • 7.5ml/1 ½ tsp Salt
    • 7.5ml/1 ½ tsp Castor sugar
    • 2.5ml/ ½ tsp Dried mustard powder
    • 1 pinch of Cayenne pepper
    • 25g/1 oz Butter
    • 2 ½ ml/ ½ tsp Easy blend yeast
    • 100g/4oz Cheese grated
    • 1X Small onion,chopped
    • 1X15ml/1tbsp Fresh chopped mixed herbs
    OR
    • 1X5ml/1tsp Dried mixed herbs

All you then do is add these ingredients in the order above to the baking pan, close the lid, select the setting which for this one is number 2 and start, then sit back and wait for the end product!.The result is a sort of cross between a loaf and a cheese scone, it tastes gorgeous hot and smothered with butter, and also is ideal for toasting once cooled, it really tastes superb.

another one I found. can you tell I am bored

Following a mad dash to the corner shop that closes at 9.30 (for skimmed milk powder) I'm off to make my first loaf :)

    Thanks for all your help!

    Morning

Woke up about 2-ish this morning to the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through the house!

When I eventually came downstairs I was a little disappointed. My bread has cooked well, but five sides are an almost burnt dark brown, while the top is a lovely golden brown. It's also square and very dense. It tastes ok though :)

Is this something I did wrong, do you think, or could it be the BM?
