Barclaycard Platinum with Cashback

With the demise of the GM Card and its 3% food and fuel cash-back this looks like the only alternative if used for food and fuel transactions only giving 2% cash-back on supermarket and petrol (up to £15 per month) so that's a spend of £750 and 0.5% cash-back on all other spending.
Before i start the online sign-up does anyone have any better deals or affiliate sign-ups to achieve a better overall cash-back

Shell card - 3% on fuel - 1% other purchases.

Shell fuel only of course and they seem to cost a bit more than others.

Does anyone know how long after closing an existing Barclaycard you can apply for this one?
Couldn't find anything on the Barclaycard website which says anything about it.0 -
I applied for this one on-line. I was given another card (with an extended interest-free period, which is no use to me). I queried this, and was eventually told that my application had had the interest-free promotion ticked (which I think is very unlikely). They cannot change it to the one I want, and say that if I cancel I will have to wait six months before re-applying.
My verdict: Barclays is so disorganised that doing anything with them is more hassle than it is worth. You can get one per cent cashback from Egg Money without the hassle, so just go with that.0 -

6 months.
Ring Barclaycard and see if they'll give you an upgrade from your current card with them?"Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for."

I enquired about this and being told that I have to close existing account and apply for new card after at least 3 months. All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy.0
