Disney land U.S.A

I'm planning to go to disney land usa, either 2005/2006. With the wife and 3 kids. :-/

I'm at the research stage. :-/

I'd be very grateful to hear your experiences / best place to stay / theme park tickets etc etc :)

Is it best to stay inside disney itself or to stay outside ??

any info is most welcome :)

I used to have links to forums that specialise in disney trips...lost them all. would be worth doing a google search for some though. I found them most helpful.

we stayed quite far out in a quieter area which was nice..away from all the madness. we hired a villa and bought a fly drive package...worked out a lot cheaper than what the travel agents at the time were offering.

we bought our disney tickets here and bought universal multi park tickets out there.

    What ?? What ?? What ?? :o

Do you mean there are TWO ??

I thought florida was the only one in usa ??

Somebody told me, that if you stayed at the resort in disney itself, you were able to get to the rides quicker and before the resort opened to the general public.

How true it is, I don't know. :-/

Was told it is more expensive to do it that way.

Somebody else told me to go outside the resort, and you are nearer to everthing else, so less travelling overall.

    I don't know where to start :-/

    What ?? What  ?? What ??  :o

Disneyland in California in Anaheim near LA is the original one in the USA detailsHere

Disneyworld in Florida near Orlando details Here Plus some extra fun facts Here

Guests staying on site at Disneyworld do get access to certain parks on certains days 1 hour prior to them opening to the general public.  Depending of which hotel you stay in and which park you visit you could be a short walk or a 20 minute bus ride (Disney Transport)from the hotel to the parks.  The total area of Walt Disney World covers 47 square miles  :o

Staying on site is generally more expensive but not always we got a cracking deal and stayed onsite last year. Prices can vary from what they term Value resorts to the Deluxe resorts.  If I had a choice of staying on or off site I would definatley stay on site.  Theres a huge choice of hotels to choose from in fact it would take you more than 61 YEARS if you wanted to spend just 1 night in every room in every hotel in Walt Disney World :o

Another option would be to rent a villa, which is quite popular plus you have your own pool.  A good forum to visit for info is Here .  There are links at the top for villas 3 sites, plus Car hire and attraction tickets.   I used them last year for car hire it was first class and £150 cheaper than taking the "FREE" car with the tour operator ;D.  The car hire was the cheapest I'd found and customer service second to none.  They are a helpful bunch on the forum there and will be more than able to answer any questions you have.

    Hope that helps.

Just re read your post and with 2 adults and 3 kids a villa might be the best option rather than all being cramped into a hotel room, unless of course if you take 2 rooms but then a villa would probably be cheaper. Plus it gives everyone a bit privacy. - Just a thought.

theres a lot more to do than the theme parks too....you may find you get park fatigue! we had to spend the odd day at the villa recharging our batteries. the heat can be very tiring for little ones and the days at the parks can be long, particularly if you stay to see the fireworks etc.

our kids actually enjoyed the space centre more. we had tickets to see a shuttle launch but unfortunatly it didnt take off due to technical problems.

Don't class it as a holiday of a life time and try and do everything, you'll definatley want to go back again so plan it that way. If your kids are quite young they will get tired with all the walking around the theme parks. Some may see it as a waste but plan days lazing by the pool to chill out etc otherwise you'll end up feeling like your on Millitary Exercise and need a holiday when you get back.

Our last trip (2 weeks) we bought the Orlando Flex 4 Park Ticket valid for 14 days. We spent 3 or 4 days at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, 1 day at Sea World and 1 Day at Wet n Wild. Plus an eveing at Disney's Magic Kingdom at Mickeys Not So Scarey Halloween Party. That worked well for us 2 adults and 4 year old.

We've done it two ways (also with three children): staying in a Disney Hotel - disappointing and overpriced, cramped and not very clean:mad: and also staying in a villa - cheaper, cleaner, loads more space and privacy;) , own pool, more relaxing - yep, villa every time! If you choose one in the right location it doesn't take longer to get to the various parks than from the on-site hotels anyway, and it opens up all sorts of other possibilities.
