Looks like the worm has certainly turned...
We build 'em up, to knock 'em down.
No in this particular instance EON have decided to cut off their own legs and deliberately alienate existing customers in the process and that's never a wise move in business.
Possibly EON have employed somebody from Sky to make these ridiculous "corporate" decisions for them?0 -
If you do not want to leave Eon, then don't. No one is forcing you. It's entirely your decision.
You cannot complain to the ombudsman until you have first complained to the supplier and allowed them at least 8 weeks to resolve your complaint or issue you a deadlock letter. Have they issued you a deadlock letter yet? No. So don't waste your time with the ombudsman.
Furthermore, the ombudsman do not allow complaints based on a supplier's commercial decision (e.g. the prices they decide to charge), so going to the ombudsman in this matter will be a complete waste of time in any event.
So are you going to pay the £200+ No? Please do not interfere.
I am only quoting what EON have told me to do via the chat service. They closed the complaint and said refer to the ombudsman.0 -

If you post on what is essentially a public forum, then expect anyone to respond.
As it warns at the top of this page
IMPORTANT!
This is an open forum - anyone can post.
The advice I offered was (a) to assist you and (b) to assist anyone else who reads your post and in inclined to do likewise.0 -

footyguy is correct here.
The ombudsman don't take on complaints about business decisions.
We should have said, that we will open a complaint for you but unfortunately there is nothing more we can do and the complaint would then be closed.
Thank you

I agree about the ombudsman info - however your own staff advised me to do this. Probably just to get rid of me.
However telling me that nobody is forcing me to leave is interfering, and is not wanted - better known as trolling EON are forcing me to leave by treating loyal customers as dirt.0 -
It would be really helpful if someone could confirm whether the new saver tariff is available to existing eon customers? I would be very keen to stay with eon but there is no way I will do so unless I am able to get a tariff similar to the BG collective switch.0

Good morning abooaaishaa and welcome to the forum.
I'm afraid it's not available to existing E.ON customersonly to brand new customers changing over to us.
All of the information about the tariff is on the comparison websites.
Thank you

I am afraid I think that's crazy. You have gone through all the trouble of installing a smart meter at my house which I now will not be able to use, and you have lost a customer (and I am sure I will be one of many). Why bother trying to compete on price for new customers when you will loose just as many existing ones. Is there any chance of a rethink? I certainly will not be rejoining eon in the future if this is the way you operate.0

You should have been advised that if you applied for a smart meter, it was only guaranteed to work with the supplier that arranged its installation.
If you want a smart meter with your new supplier, you will have to request one from them.
Yes it's crazy, but the powers that be have pushed for the roll-out of smart meters before there has been any agreement over compatability of smart meters across suppliers
(Where a customer has a smart meter, and changes supplier, the smart meter can still continue to be used by the new supplier as a dumb meter.
The IHD should continue to function with the new supplier, but there will be no support for it should it need some, such as if it goes wrong, or even changing the tariff information if this is not able to be done by the consumer)
