    Logbook of drivers use.

That would be the responsibility of the keeper. The leasing company, as the registered keeper, may not even know who that was.

Fair one, I was thinking more along the lines of company car where many people have access :)

I'm clutching at straws, but here's a question that's begging to be answered:

Who generally drives faster - you or your wife?

It's taken the wife all weekend to have it so keep quiet.

Matttye... did he have to pay costs + the victim surcharge?

I can't remember for sure now, but I think so.
The danger of dealing with the matter by post is getting the failing to provide the information dropped in exchange for a guilty plea to speeding, if they don't, you could be found guilty on both counts. So you have to be there on the day to get them to agree.

Sorry, I said "Plead guilty by post" but what I actually meant was to respond to the Section 172 Notice by naming the driver.

I can't see any advantage to him not responding to the Section 172 Notice if he knew all along that he was the driver and he was going to plead guilty at court.

I do agree with you that it would be unwise for him to plead guilty to speeding by post and not guilty to the charge of failing to provide information in case they proceeded with both.
