Steps to take if you have been ripped-off by a copy-cat government website

Of course - copycat ads are now removed by google. please varify this by yourself.
Without advertisement, they exist purely as non-seen URL's on data centres consuming hosting resources ....:rotfl: basically now waste of space !
The adverts may be gone, but they are still in the natural searches. A search of Passport Renewal brings up sites in 4th and 8th position.
Some businesses may decide that it is not worth their while to continue, but others may decide that they will carry on and pick up the few people who are stupid enough to ignore the .gov.uk sites in the first 3 places - and there will still be some.
Reduced income yes, but reduced costs as well as they will no longer have to pay Goolge.0 -
I notice some people pay so much of inherent respect that they do not even use the word 'copycats' in their posts to refer them...How ironic !0

Unable to comment on the point I raised, so you ignore it and start spouting crap again.
I don't call them copycats because as far as I am concerned they are not copy-cats, except in your tiny little mind. They provide a service that is extra to the passport office etc. Would you class the Post Office's check and send service as a copycat? After all, they are providing an add on service as well.
Perhaps for your next thread, you should advise peope of what to do if they have been ripped off by the Post Office's check and send service?
Oh look, you even edited your post after I had quoted it to make it look like you had considered the natural search results.0 -

We all know what websites we are talking about so there is no need to be so pedantic about terminology.
Nobody on any of these threads has been paying 'inherent respect'.0 -
completely agree with you on that, hpuse.
still waiting to hear from bank.
hope google banning their ads will work in favour.
Yes, trading standards call them, ASAs call them, govenment call them, action fraud call them ....all call them "COPYCATS",
Yet, still some posters here do not!!. Can that be 'terminologically' termed as giving some sort of respect?0 -

Be honest now hpuse
Did you get your money back?
You have a possibly unhealthy interest in these sites. You crow when you think they are gone.
You refuse to respond to questions asked.
You appear to have no life outside these sites and their banishment from the internet.
You could have started a petition to sort these sites out, yet you much preferred making wrong statements about how to get refunds.
And still you jump on the wrong inference when some one posts that's not to your liking.
Are you OK? You know its only a website yes?63 mortgage payments to go.
Zero wins 2016 😥0 -

Does it really matter?
No, of course it doesn't matter.
We all know what 'services' these websites offer.
But if you wish to be so pedantic as to split hairs over terminology, then continue to do so.
It adds nothing to this unhelpful thread other than showing posters who may stumble across it that you are continually being proved wrong but are very reticent about answering questions put to you by other posters.0 -

Loads of "you" "you" ...., infact the count is 10 :rotfl:
Sometimes a best answer for a challenge is .....silence !0 -

Another irrelevant response that ignores the question asked.
Rather sums up hpuse's whole attitude, if things get too difficult for him to understand or answer he ignores them and spouts irrelvant crap.0 -

Isn't that just the same as you calling them con-men and fraudsters though? You know they're not, but you still insist using that incorrect terminology instead of sticking to 'copy-cat'.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
