Just wanted to say hi. Been reading with interest and love some of the ideas. Not quite at this stage myself, but it's really encouraging that the whole day can be done on a budget. Thanks0

I am soooooo pleased. The 2 bridesmaid dresses have arrived from China, and I'm thrilled with them.
They cost £28 each which was under budget (set at £75 each), so even better. The colour doesn't show very well here but they are a bright red.
I have also been busy making buttons holes, just about to start on the 2 bridesmaid bouquets (I'm not having one). I also got everything out for our table centrepieces to see how they looked. I was very pleased with the plastic bowls, I hoped they would look like glas (at a fraction of the cost :rotfl: and they do)
The items for all buttonholes (8 of them, cost £15 ) it was much more than I wanted to pay, but I'm happy with them.
The centerpieces for 12 tables consist of :
mirror tiles £18.00 (from Ikea), plastic bowls £6.00 (Ebay), buckets £5.00 (Ebay), Rock sweets £15.00 (half say Mr & Mrs, half say Just Married), table holder (£8 Ebay). Shells were free and we have drift wood too. So total cost per centrepiece is around £4.50 (we also have a pen to complete the Mr & Mrs game with and also small fridge magnet which say - We went to the wedding of X & X and all we got was this lousy fridge magnet).
I'll update out budget on here when I get a moment.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
:jGorgeous dresses - could I ask which site you got them from, I'm helping my daughter plan her budget wedding and looking for inspiration - you seem to be doing really well.

These are them. I got two, size 8 and size 12 and both are absolutely fine, huge sigh of relief. The dresses are on the 'small' side, however they are lace up back, so we have no problems. My DD struggled to get the 8 over her bum, and she's really straight up and down, but a bit of a wiggle and she was fine. The size 12 she said was fine (I haven't seen this one on my MOH yet).
They came in a little over a week too, so I was totally pleased.
For the foam roses, I think you can pick and choose on Ebay really. Just search for foam roses and them set to 'cheapest first'. Very easy to make bouquets etc and there's lots of threads on here giving ideas.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
No a very good point. I only didn't include the dresses as planned on selling them, but I guess I could take ithe off and add back on anything I get for them afterwards.
I might as well do a total cost of everything we spend. Although shoes are gift off OH so won't include them.
By all means budget it but I don't think there's anything wrong with defining what your £3k budget includes (and by extension doesn't include). I suggest including the petrol required to visit the venues for example, but some here may apparently think that's a cheatHaving a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Gosh you e done really well. Iv been doing my hardest to keep costs down but everything double , trebles even as soon as wedding mentioned!
Our biggest outlay is the venue (it is stunning, fell in love with it and couldn't get away from it, saw loads after and didn't compare) we've gone for the cheapest menu @£39.95 per head , but large family so day is 80 guests! That's £3200 before we've started!
£800 hog roast Buffett too.
To cut all the rests if costs down were only buying drinks for the toast as £21 per bottle to put on table , and they don't do corkage .
Getting married on a Sunday so saved £750 room fee, blagged a offer they do in January for our feb wedding were ceremoney room free (£850) plus 2 extra bedrooms , centrepeices & ice swan fruit thing.
It makes me sick I'm spending £4000 on feeding people!
Doing my own invitations, own favours, my own cake (my sister really cake arty) but doing with polystyrene blocks , and buying cake bars from m&s to give out, just so after wedding can hopefully re sell fake cake.
Flowers got a 20% off when at a bridal fair.
My flowers are costing just under £500 from brides, 5 BM, 15 button holes, 2 flower girls , top table arrangement & cake topper.
Really lucky with my florist too as she not long got married and has tons to lanterns and has said I can take as much stuff from her shop to hire for £80!! Bloody bargain compared to the crazy hire prices.
I know my food is a lot but I think I'm doing good in saving elsewhere , if not my wedding would be well in excess for £10k.
Any other tips anyone has, pleaseeee send my way

Gosh!! I feel sick for you!
And me! Though including drinks and VAT ours will be that much tooNo choice as there's only one caterer attached to the venue. We've saved a small fortune by buying our own wine on offer and having cupcakes instead of canapes - the cheapest canapes were £15 per head!!!! Not sure if that's the going rate but there's no way I was paying it!

Today I've made our postbox. I ordered the box off Ebay (I think) and have printed off the front and mounted on card then added some red ribbon.
I have made my two bouquets. I didn't want any but my MOH said she'd feel funny not holding something, so I've made these. Sorry to Strawberry - I didn't see your post asking how to make them. I again ordered foam roses off Ebay, I got ivory and red, and some sprigs of pearl stuff - you can tell I'm not a florist :rotfl: I then started with one rose and just kept adding more, I filled in any spaces with red roses and added the sprigs around the outside. I was going to wrap the stem with red ribbon, but don't think I'll bother. I have a small 1in photoframe with a hook, which I'm going to put a photo of me and MOH and BM in and attached this to the stems.
I have also made the wishing tree. Well to be fair H2B did this part. We used some of the driftwood we are drying out for the table centrepieces and cut a whole in it. Added the branch our dog found on a walk nearby and voila! I thought about painting it white, but the wooden look goes really well with our beach theme, so thinking I might leave it as it is.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0
