You'll have to check, but I'm pretty sure the free BB has a 2GB usage limit.
Only good for checking your emails + very light surfing.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

I'm going to try, but I want a back up plan to threaten them with.0

Well I phoned Virgin to say I was leaving to go to TalkTalk and they said I can cut the line rental to £10 paying in advance and then they'd cut the broadband to £7 a month, TT would've effectively been free as its £3.25 but with £40 cashback, but hubby said the 30mb speed is worth £7 and said he'd pay it, so great result for me, going from £27 a month to £120 upfront and no monthly bill.
Cheers to you all, you've saved me a packet. :-)0 -
If a considerable number of people in your area move over to fibre from normal broadband then there will be less contention especially at those busy times in the early evening, so I would say yes, in that case you're normal speed will probably increase.0

Unlikely though, contention isn't really an issue these days, especially since the huge bandwidth upgrade work that was done for the Olympics. It certainly won't make any difference to the sync/connection speed.0

Talk Talk are really after adding your line to their package, it is not quite so easy to walk away if the honeymoon does not work out as expected or if you find a "better" option down the line such as a cheap virgin.
Does anyone have a source on independent comparison between TT and the other land line providers charges for day time calls ?0
