Beverley Monthly Saver Account: bonus rate will drop to 2.5% (currently @3%) on 1st January. This looks iffy to me since it was my understanding the bonus is set down in the terms and conditions of the account. Going by the General Terms and Conditions the notice for a reduction in rates is 14 days [section 14.9] whereas the notice required for a change to a specific term of an account is 60 days [14.10]

If anyone has has the account-specific leaflet that may clarify this. Meanwhile see here also.

    What the letter says:
We are writing to advise of a change to Society's Monthly Saver account.

With effect from the 1st of January the bonus on the Monthly Saver account to be applied in December 2013, will be 2.50% giving an overall variable interest rate of 2.60% Gross/AER.

The bonus rate on the Monthly Saver account will be reviewed annually and the Society will continue to keep you informed of any further changes.

The Society's Monthly Saver account still offers a competitive interest rate for regular monthly savings. and is one of the few where the bonus is applied to your total balance, rather than just your current year's savings.

The problem with ANY N&P Fixed rate regular savers is that you can only have the fixed rate for one year. For example, you can't close the e-family regular after one year and open another 5% regular saver account.

    from N&P website...

Only one E-Family Regular Saver account can be opened per customer throughout the life of the product. You cannot open a new E-Family Regular Saver after the fixed rate period has ended.
  • Great that you have the option to keep it going if you want.Anyone got any documentation recently to confirm the 5% .Dont want to find out a year down the line this 5% is old rate.

Special_Saver2 updates the first few posts of this thread every week, so the information in those posts is always current. You need to look at the edit date of the messages you are looking at (found at the bottom of any message that has been edited), and not the original posting date.

    It's on their website.

Good to see that, after the year, the reduced rate isn't bad either, at 3.7%.
