O/S Daily Sunday 2nd December 2012 O/S Daily Sunday 2nd December This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Enjoying the peace as DH is in the bath, he brought me a cuppa, so am enjoying that whilst on here. DS1 still sound asleep, but he was up at 4.30am yesterday and went to work with DH - they didn't get back until 3pm - so will let him have a well earned lie in. DS2 is now up and about.
Now getting light and not so chilly here this morning.
Had a lovely evening with our friends last night, they cooked us a 3 course dinner, starting with soup, then ribs in sticky sauce with potatoes and corn on the cob and for dessert pineapple cheesecake or custard tart, and of course followed by cheese, biscuits and port. The ribs were especially good and I came away with the recipe. There was lots of chat and laughter too, so nice to be able to walk so me and DH can have a drink - they live literally round the corner, a moments walk!
Today we will be visiting my parents, and DH will collect the keys for his van (so he can collect it later) and we have to go and pick up our caravan and take it for a service, we'll collect it next weekend. I have a leg of lamb in the fridge for today's lunch, will do all the usual accompaniments so we have LO's for a night in the week. I have a sketchy menu plan in mind, so hoping that will work out as I only need to cook 4 nights this week as we're out again on Friday night for dinner - again with good friends, looking forward to that. We are going to call in to Opticians this morning as tried to book DH an appointment on line, what a stupid system, thought I would get given a selection of dates and times and you book yourself in - but no, you state date and then either early morning, mid morning, late morning, lunchtime, etc - but nothing is confirmed and no time given, then they put a message up to say they will either telephone you with an appointment or email you - what's the point of an on-line booking system then?!
Work tomorrow will no doubt be busy as it's the 1st of the month - at least it makes the day pass by quicker!
Now going to get a shower and brekkie.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Huge hugs to Lame Wolf - keep on plodding my friend - we will get there in the end:happylove
Molly and Poppy are sending you very licky licks and waggy tails xxI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning nmlc & all who cross/follow
LW, don't stop posting, that's an order!
I still have a cough & thumping headache & would have liked a lie in his morning, unfortunately DGD is thundering up & down stairs, screaming like a banshee and has been doing since 6am. No, I don't have the grandchildren staying but next door do, their DGD is 12 and very noisy! I shall scowl at her tomorrow at work, lol.
Thick frost here this morning, but everything I need to do today is an indoor job, so I shall keep warm & snug, I shopped online yesterday, my supermarket shop & my meat order from the butchers, both will be delivered tomorrow after 4, once I'm home from work. I spent £83 at the SM & £69 at the butchers, but that will see me all the way through 'til January, apart from milk & fruit, we still have veg in the garden.
My birthday fruit trees arrived on Thursday & hubby has planted them up.
Time I made another cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning nmlc and to all who cross/follow,
No frost here today but it is still chilly. Not as cold as yesterday.
Hubby came in from work and went straight to bed. He wants me to get him up at about 9.30. He never likes alot of sleep after his last night shift. The girls are still in bed. So quiet, it's lovely!
I may be going into town with one of the girls. It will give me a chance to get some bits for my cousins children for Christmas.
Will have a hoover through when everyone is up. I will see if the washing i put on the airer is dry. If so i will iron that and get that put away. I may be able to scrape together another load to wash.
Lunch will be chicken with potatoes and veg.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Miffy I forgot we're neighbours. Well almost, just the river and a massive forest between us
It's -2 here at the moment, think I'll stay in today. Cold and flu tablets have minimised my symptoms really well, but the cough has kicked in and while it's not too bad during the day, the second I lie down it starts and won't stop. I've tried sleeping sitting upright but can't drift off like that. Covonia Night Time is on my shopping list, mr tru is going out so I'll get him to pick some up.
LameWolf I don't do hugsBut you can have one of these
Someone (sorry, can't remember who) said they couldn't find ham hocks in the supermarket. I've never looked for them TBH, we use Morrison's so I'll check next week. We bought ours in the local butcher's.Bulletproof0 -

had a lovely day in london yesterday with dh dd1and dd2 , it was for dd1s birthday , she wanted to go to christmas world in harr0ds. it was lovely but absolutely rammed , you could hardly move , still i got a couple of baubles for the tree lol , we then went to hyde park where they were having a winter wonderland , that was rammed too  but it made for a brilliant atmosphere , we had churros and chocolate ( one of our favourites) and we we went on the big wheel, unfortunately this is where DH suddenly found out he doesnt like heights  he couldnt move, he couldnt look out of windows , he was terrified - poor thing the wheel went round 3 full turns before he could get off, bless him we 3 had a great time though
everyone is in bed at the moment so its lovely and quiet , DD1 came back on the train with us so we will be taking her back to uni later today .
dd2 is working 11 till. 3 im not doing a sunday dinner as noone seems bothered so an easy day for me

Morning!
I tried propping myself up in bed with my bad chest and I couldn't drift off either. I'm trying for the 3rd time to reduce my anti depressants and I'm sure I'm suffering from withdrawal.
More packing and sorting today and a pile of washing to pu through its paces and get back in the drawers.
Major catastrophe in that I haven't defrosted the chicken!
Have yourself a merry little Christmas will be playi g itself round my head today0 -

Just caught up with the thread from yesterday, wow it was busy.hi to all the newbies and returners.
Lots of positive vibes LW hope you feel better today
House viewings are generally awful, we had months of it this year and once we return from Australia it will go back on the market. I am dreading it.
We had a lovely evening at friends last night. She made a gorgeous Thai chicken curry. Dh had too much to drink which is unlike him, I however was a saint, my halo didn't wobble once:A
We walked home and the temperature was -7 it was perishing. Left the heating on low all night:o
Today will drop DGS Christmas pressies off and need to pop in mat@lan
This afternoon will be spent packing the final bits. Have lots of pressies and gifts for my DS for his wedding, I have butterflies today, only 3 days until we get on the plane:eek:
Tea will be freezer stuff, probably fish fingers mash and beans.
Need to add a package to my phone so I can use it in Australia and dh will sort out the lamp timers.
Off for toast and marmalade, have a good day all, keep warm and safe J xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
