CASINOSYes, I had Penne Arrabiate and it was really good. Hubby had Eggplant stuffed with spaghetti and he really enjoyed that too.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0

Just got back on Tuesday night after our US break with 4 days in Vegas in the middle. Had a big disappointment when we flew into LAX but our luggage didn't. It came on the next plane but took 45 hours to reach us (just about half an hour away). Approx. £700 worth of presents/clothes etc. were stolen. Nightmare times trying to sort out. Anyway stayed first night in Circus Circus (booked last minute) and cost approx £25. It was ok - we were in one of the buildings not the tower. Clean, large and couldn't complain. Next 3 nights were in Planet Hollywood (booked through LastMinute.com) and was £108 for the 3 nights (excellent value). Hotel was really nice. Room was huge and you could just see the Bellagio fountains from the window (29th floor). Bought the 24 hour pass buffet ticket which was $49.99 and good value as we managed 2 evening buffets, breakfast and lunch. Ate in Paris, Harrahs and Spice Buffet. Really enjoyed them all - masses of choise. Think I enjoyed Paris the most though. Looking to go back again next year as we didn't get our trip to the Grand Canyon (waiting in 2 days for luggage set our plans all wrong). If I had known then what I know now . . .

VALUE FOR MONEYHighland Lass - that sounds so awful...really sorry to hear that the whole luggage fiasco hit you. Will you be able to claim anything on travel insurance?
Also, who arranged this weather? We think it's the biggest return home weather shock we've had - such a huge difference. I had no coat with me either.
Already looking forward to our March trip!
And I do have a partially used LVA Member Reward book if anyone is going between now and the end of the year (as normal some of the vouchers expire late December). If anyone is interested send me a message with a number between 1 and 100 and will leave it a few days for people to have a chance...if there's more than one potential taker whoever is closest to my number will take it...I've already told hubby what my number is and I don't cheat.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

We had a problem with our luggage on our last trip going in to LAX, it came on the next flight, but that was only an hour behind so we waited at the airport and it arrived undamaged, your situation must have been horendous.
Could you have speeded things up by going to the airport and collecting? we waited as were told it could be any amount of hours after it arrived at the airport before it would be delivered to us
It may have prvented the theft as well depending on when that happened.
hope your insurance sorts it0 -
BUFFETSHighland Lass that's rotten
Hope your insurance can go some way to sorting it out. Glad you enjoyed the rest of your trip.
I've been playing MyVegas all day - I'm now about 100 spins away from four free Bellagio lunch buffetsJust about to go downstairs, pour a g&t and watch Secret Hotels (thanks Credit Crunch, I'd have completely missed out if you hadn't mentioned it!)

Was assured the luggage would be that night, that's why we didn't go back. Besides we didn't have a hired car at that point. Also couldn't actually speak to a real person. Automated message kept coming up with "case closed" your luggage has left at 9pm. Still battling with BA (will not be beaten) but if all fails, then we have travel insurance. Just the hastle of it all.If I had known then what I know now . . .

Really loved the room, the view, the laundry facilities...very expensive compared to what we are used to but for a special treat it was so worth it...thanks to those who posted about it and put the idea in my head.
I did say to hubby that I could see staying there one night each trip to get all the laundry done!
We had Wicked Spoon for brunch and while the food was good, it was oddly laid out we thought...I know it's brunch so will have breakfast and lunch offerings - but grouping the breakfast offerings together would have made more sense to me rather than having them scattered...I only found eggs benedict by accident in some really random place. And they had pancakes and french toast down at one end...bacon and sausage on another station...it was odd. And I don't know if a comment pebbles had made the day before that made me notice or it not - but the food wasn't that hot, we did not think...it was fresh, you could tell that, but not very warm. And they didn't seem to have the red velvet pancakes I really wanted to try. The food was good, but having now had brunch and dinner there I think that will be it for us - it's not one we would rush back to, not for the price. I can see that the food is higher quality and different sort of stuff to many buffets and it is appealing in that way - but if you're happy with standard buffet fare (which we normally are) it may seem a bit over-priced. We did check if breakfast was included for international guests and it wasn't for us - we had booked on a 20% off for international guests offer and that was our special deal so no breakfast on top...which is what we were expecting but had to ask to be sure.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYSorry to hear about your luggage troubles Highland lass. That sounds awful.
Ferf, I hope I didn't put you off Wicked Spoon, but in a way, I'm relieved that it wasn't just us that thought it was less than hot. What we had was nice, just the wrong temperature.0 -
VALUE FOR MONEYnot at all, pebbles...I wasn't even thinking about what you had said when we sat down but as I tried a few things I thought 'this doesn't seem as hot as I would expect' then remembered your comment. The food was good...just a bit cool. I suppose it's hard to keep things hot enough but keep them from going too far done though I cannot think of another buffet we've had this experience.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

CASINOSI've finally got 3 friends to commit to coming with me next June. However, the flights I had in mind have gone up for about 575 to about 650 quid
I was thinking maybe because today is Sunday, that the airlines might put the prices up a bit as (I imagine) lots of people tend to book on a Sunday? Can anyone confirm that that might be the case? In which case I will wait until during the week and hopefully the prices will drop! But if not then I might as well book now.0
