I have been having a think about this last bit of debt. I think I'm in danger of treading water at this point - I've paid barely anything this month :( and I think it's because the debt is a lot smaller now, it's not incurring any interest and I've had enough in a lot of ways. I'm also paying more in terms of bills as of this month and will be paying for a car as from November. Problem with that kind of thinking is that I will end up carrying my debt past December :( and I really want 2013 to be a fresh start.

So I need a bit of a challenge. :D As I'm in Africa from 12th Nov to 13th Dec I will be missing 2 weeks of each month on the £10 a day challenge.

So I'm going to set myself a 3 month challenge instead - I will go for £20 a day and I will try for £1,840 as that is 3 months worth. That way I have the challenge of trying to reach the total although I know I won't be here for a month of it.

If I manage to raise that it's nearly all the way there for paying the debt off. It should also give me a kick up the backside - I'm good at making money working at the pub and cleaning, it's set hours, so I turn up without thinking about it. But I do need to give myself a final eBay, surveys, Textbroker, Etsy etc push!

Sorry that was a very rambling way of saying that I'm going to try to make some money! :o

  • Hi hun

I can imagine that last bit is difficult - almost can sit back and have a few months off without it harming your interest - not suggesting you do of course, just think of how you will feel once it is gone. No more of these conversations will be needed, your money will be yours, no writing articles about things that you don't want to, no more selling everything for a "dime" or worrying about have you met a target......bliss! Savings savings savings spent on something fabulous :)

Well said DF! :D That's the thing - it's easy at this stage to say I've had enough cause I've been doing it for so long but actually here's where it's really important. That final push to make all the bits that have gone before worthwhile.

  • The final push is so, so important. My DH was so excited about becoming DF that I really wanted to get it done as soon as I could.

I really want 2013 to be a fresh start for you too!! Now is a great time of year to be eBaying although I know it's such a pita. Best of luck - you're so close!

And on that note, I have playing around with the spreadsheets....again :o

To meet my 3 month challenge:

    Pub £450
    Cleaning £135
    Textbroker £80
    eBay/Amazon £90
    Craft £110
    Extras £975

Extras will basically include anything I can think of! I already have surveys, the dog sitting and gardening I occasionally do etc

The pub and cleaning totals I will make if I just do my basic shifts (cleaning has dropped as one of my jobs hasn't needed me recently but may be going back soon). The other totals are just made up from what I think is do-able. If I meet the targets I can obviously adjust them as I'm sure some will pay out better than others.

Wish me luck for the 3 month challenge :D

£210 to my brother today :)

All set for the £20 a day 3 month challenge now, which I think I need to be if this debt is going to be gone!

I have hit the £1,000 mark though on my Africa savings now so pleased with that. I may well not spend it all in which case it can go to debt when I come back. I just wanted to be prepared as last time things that I didn't expect - being stranded overnight due to a delayed flight and an emergency dentist trip for example - cost me money I didn't have. So rather than calling my Mum in a panic again as I did last time, I want to be prepared.
