For any new Bootsers, by the time you have worked the formula out successfully (so that you can confidently explain it to yourself, in the mirror;)), and followed that up with a few more glitches, you'll find your maths ability will be on a par with Carole Voorderman!

Hi Sandra, does it also mean that I will have a figure like her as well??? :p

    Morning everyone

Have done a few batches of 6 and 6 over weekend using SS and manned tills

At the manned tills none of the SA have batted an eyelid

When i first tried SS till last weekend went through no problem but this weekend at the end of the transaction before paying message comes up stating unsold item, This means that the SA then has to come over and authorise transaction before i could pay. Both times when this has happened the SA has just come over and authorised without any problems. However i am now nervous at using SS till knowing this message going to come up.

Has anybody else had this problem using SS tills ?

I did a 6 and 6 on SS tills on Saturday morning - no problems and no authorisation needed.
  • Anyone know if this is still working today? Going out later and would like to get some for DD.

Hi the £1.55 is what you are left to pay when you buy 3 packs of ricola you get 1.45x3 minus one of the 1.45 then the til takes of 3 x 0.45 as they are reduced to £1 leaving you to pay £1.55 on each batch of 3 so take 5 x that off your over spend as you are buying 15 HTH.

If you can find the Ricolas (sometimes with the cough & cold stuff, sometimes with herbal/alternative stuff like Bachs), they work out slightly better than vitamins. The best deal on vitamins is 3 x 79p which, after the 3 for 2, costs £1.58. There's only 3p in it but if your Boots has no cheap vitamins and/or you're only interested in the money saving aspect and not getting vitamins then the Ricolas are a good bet.

For each batch of 6 shots you buy, providing you are going to buy 6 vitamins (or Ricolas) you have £5.97 towards the vitamins and your shopping. This means that as long as you stick to vitamins that are on average under £1.50 each you will make money. You could get 3 vitamins at £2 and 3 at 79p and still make a profit given how Boots calculate their 3for2.

There are few cheap vitamins to choose from though and stocks are low but here's what I've found:

    Boots Effervescent Vitamin C 20s (silver/grey tube, white cap) = £2.55
Bassetts on the go Vitamins 15s (silver tube, purple cap) = £2.49
Boots Vitamin & Iron 30s (grey tub, red sticker on cap) = £2.05
    Boots Chewable A-Z 3 years+ 30s (grey tub, orange sticker on lid) = £2.05
Boots Evening Primrose Oil 60s (white tub, yellow cap) = £2.05
Boots Odourless Garlic 60s (white tub, blue cap) = £1.59
Boots Iron 60s (grey tub, red sticker on cap) = £1.54
Boots Omega 3 30s (white tub, blue cap) = 99p
Boots Cod Liver Oil 30s (white tub, green cap) = 99p
Boots Multivitamins (white tub, red cap) = 79p
Boots Vitamin C 30s (white tub, orange lid) = 79p

There's little point in having lots of vitamins sitting around gathering dust hence I have been buying some of the dearer ones for my family. No point in having 60 tubs of odourless garlic when you won't ever use them. Much better to maybe lose a bit of savings but have vitamins that you can use

I bought the Boots own brand Chewable A-Z which were £2.05 for 30. They are suitable for 3yr+ and were with all the other vitamins with orange labels...i.e not in specific kids bit.

Also I saw another vitamin item in a Boots yesterday that said 1 free with every purchase on the signage. It was in the same style packaging as the shots but it was a tube of effervecent tablets which were re-energise and revitalise.

I presume that these would work the same way as the shots glitch. what do you think??? I didn't try them as that store had plenty of shots left and doesn't have a self serve till:o
  • Got this for the 1st time today :D Got 3 of each in one store just to check, then in the next store 6 of each :D

SA did look at the till in this kinda fashion  lol then was 'erm tha's £3.49 please' she did have a look at my reciept before she gave me it, but didn't say anything *phew*

    Thanks OP :D

Do you remember how much they were? Just wondering, cos if they do work the same way as the shots, they may be a better proposition if they are more than £1.99 each.

I had to read that about 10 times till I finally worked it out. Boots have to be awkward with their glitches :D
