Well done MsDaisy. It's great to see your progress. I think on balance that getting rid of the 30% CC has to be the priority. That's daylight robbery..shocking.

My only concern about the holiday if something goes wrong and you need to take the 3 months some other time because for some reason you cant meet the mortgage payments. Might be worth seeing if you can take another holiday should anything unfortunate happen at a later date.

Thanks Brizzle, freebyfifty, alibob30 and saterkey. I do feel much better about my debt busting plans. I'm so looking forward to making the payments on this cc even though it will take 3 months.

@saterkey - that's a good point, it hadn't occured to me that I might need a payment holiday in the future. I've paid a mortgage on my own for 12 years and never thought about a payment holiday until now. I'm working on a DFD (currently about 30 months away but that's only the unsecured debts) then I'm aiming to save a couple of months worth of mortgage payments so hopefully I won't be in this position again. Lots of hard work and fingers crossed

Next on the debt busting list is finding a better phone/internet/mobile deal. I should have done this last month

but I didn't. I will do it this weekend and report back

Does anyone else have a list of things they are working through/have worked through to cut spending/clear debts? Do you do one thing at a time or work on several things at the same time? I'd love to know how others do their MSEing

Nothing much to report today except that yesterday and today were NSDs. I'll have to do a shopping tomorrow but I'll be looking for bargains

Got my letter through today confirming my payment holiday. Can't wait to get rid of this cc.

Didn't leave the house yesterday so I didn't do my shopping which made yesterday a NSD. Must do it today though. I'll go as soon as I've finished my coffee:coffee: I'm hoping to avoid temptation since I've just been fed and watered!

I started the Bloater challenge of losing 2 stones and saving 2k by April. I've managed to lose 6lbs this week :j I know it's a lot but I need to see results early on to keep me motivated. I don't expect I'll lose that next week, more like 2lbs if I'm lucky but that's ok

I'm going to do a spreadsheet with all incomings/outgoings on it. I see other people talking about updating theirs so I'm going to give it a go. I think it might help to see the figures in front of me. I would prefer to write mine rather than do it on the PC. Does anyone know where I could print one off? Thanks

Pah, not a good day at the supermarket. I was tempted to buy a family history magazine and spent a whopping £4.99 on it. Not content with shopping in MrT's I then went to MrM's to get the things I couldn't find in MrT's. In MrM's I bought a large bag of pretzels which I didn't need. Not only am I £1.39 down I also have to consume approx 700 calories :eek:... not good for the Bloater challenge. Anyway, I'm currently munching my way through them and washing them down with a glass of wine. Oh well, may as well consume the calories tonight then be good for the rest of the week

Total supermarket spend £39.97. Still have one DS at home so some of the food money was spent on him. I also bought things that will last more than a week. Realised when I got home that I had forgotten a couple of things. I'm going to try and go without them.

I must, must, must stick to my list next time.

On a more positive note I registered for telephone banking today. At least this will save me the embarrassment of dealing with my finances with a neighbour and an ex pupil who both work as tellers in my local bank. :T
