As long as it posted on the main board for people who do not use the regular section, and are happy with one entry in a multiple entry competition, and as long as people who use both have a way of checking if they have already entered (my suggestion above) does it really matter?
Does this not solve at least some of the problems, or am i over simplifying it?
as i and others have said over and over again no it doesnt so long as everyone comes form the same rule book, the comps are not posted on both boards thus duped, there is consitancy in where things are posted and as some people already do EVERYONE adds links in the 3 stickies.
but having things posted and duped or being found the day before a decent daily comp ends has not been fun for the minority of us who dont comp by new post or new topic!
and it feels once again as if we are being told we are a minority, we dont count and our views, opinions and styles of comping dont matter.0 -

Im not saying your views dont count, but you must surely understand that the rules cant be made for the minority, it has to be the majority. From what im reading, most people (and i dont include myself here, as i do the main board then the dailies stickies) do not use the regular board at all, is it not fair on them to miss out on competitions, purely because the few that mainly use the regular board (im stressing board there, not stickies, as my earlier suggestion addresses the enter button if a link to the main board is used) dont want to dupe their entries.
Does my suggestion about the stickies/main board not work?
For me personally, it doesnt matter what happens as long as i know whats happening, i enter comps from where i left off and then do the dailies, and then back to the main board - im sure i am missing some regular comps that have been moved, or bumped on the regular board, rather than being bumped on the main board (which i will admit is my preference) but i only have so much time in the day to comp, so im not going to worry about it.0 -
Andrea I wasn't going to post on the poll but I think this is an important point. I think you misunderstand how regulars works for the people that use it?MSE_Andrea wrote: »....... those that only use the main board and those that only use the Regulars board. I don't remember seeing many instances of people using both
I use both boardsand I think I'm not alone
(and yes, I know the difference between a board and a sticky)
I post regulars on the regulars board and one off comps on the main board (I always thought this was to keep the main board more clutter free?)
Once the regular is in the sticky I then just use the sticky to comp from. I don't comp from regulars if you mean go down the list like you do on main? Because to me once something is on the regular board and on the sticky the sticky IS the regular board. I don't think I'm alone in this thinking, I'm fairly sure the other people that use the regulars work in the same way???
Which is why I have been saying for days that going with the majority rule and going back to how it used to be is fine with me (and I think will be acceptable to other people that use regulars too???) SO LONG AS a few small rules are put in place that do not take much time and would make a big difference to making sure all the regulars are captured on the stickies ASAP. (eg get comps moved from regulars to main rather than duping them and if you spot something is a regular add it to the sticky....the BGs and sticky managers could probably agree on the final rules?)
Before I sign off can I just say that even if the regular compers are in the minority their opinion still counts.
The people that use regulars have been feeling for ages how the people that comp from main feel at the moment. Neither side needs to miss out!!! The things I've suggested would take seconds and would make a big difference. Everything could still go on main. People just need to be more considerate if they're not already doing those things and people need to stop seeing this as them and us. What about the community as a whole?0 -

I'm all a bit confused to be honest! I use both boards too.
I would have thought it was fairly simple to define a regular as being something that you can enter on a regular basis, as that's what the stickies are all about, but it all seems to be a bit over complicated, and I'm really confused about the descriptions of a regular now.
I don't understand how having or not having an end date makes or doesn't make something a regular, or makes it any different to the others, as technically they all have 'end dates' (meaning each draw has an end date of either each day/week/month/other random time)?!
I've given examples on the 'define a regular' poll thread of how things that are currently in the dailies can fit into each description, and if they're dailies now, aren't they still dailies after any changes have been made? So if you get what I mean, they're all interlinked with each other, by having the wide ranging description of being a daily?
Like I said on the thread the other day, I'm not so bothered about where things are posted, so if they're on the main board, so be it, as long as they're linked to in the stickies so that everyone can find them easily! (I know people have been saying that they add them to their bookmarks as they find them, which is fine for people that comp as they're posted on the main board, but if they're on the main board only and not sent to the stickies then how do we find them without having to go through each days new posts?)
I'm also confused by how people are confusing the regular board and the stickies? :huh:0 -
purplecatlover wrote: »yes that would create a massive problem for me. i cant remember from one hour to the next what ive entered if not for the enter and thanks buttons.
as it is at the moment when things are posted on main by one person and then posted in the regular forum by another person i and others disqualify ourselves by entering form both threads, many times ive only realised when someone else with a better memory comes along and says its already been posted!
the two boards are meant to compliment each other. at the moment they dont because a number of people wont post over there because they get less thanks if they do so less people seemingly see it ( that has been a reason given by quite a few posters)given that the majority of compers work there way through main first and only look at regulars when they have run out of other comps to enter. this has been fine up to now because they have not needed to go anywhere else because a large number of regular competitions were posted on main.
however those of us who use regular board and the sticky threads therein BEFORE coming to main and then comp by end date on main when we have time to go through the 200plus comps ending the next day that there usually are, were missing out on a large number of competitions because they were posted on main and not in regulars and nobody informed the regular sticky thread maintainers that they were a daily or weekly so they could be added to that list.
so because the rules said a regular comp was to be posted on the regs part bgs started moving threads. thus we discovered that everyone has differing ideas on what constitues a regular.
having the same competion posted in both places is not a good solution and will just cause even more resentment and complaints and anger.
I'm going to take one of the comps I've posted and follow it through, please tell me where and how you can enter twice:
Original Post (apart from header changed by ??) posted on main board https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2964260
This is link direct from Dailys board (as shown now) E: 06/02 - £300 to Spend on Yale Products to get that on Dailys board I would have tagged a note on end of Gillas Dailys with the original post link.
If you now search you will only find this in bargainhuntergals Dailys as removed from main board, but I think even if it hadn't been removed you would still have only found the one thread.
And it's not about 'thanks' or 'glory' but being given a fair crack at the game, and the way it's been going the main board has lost out, and sadly I think the majority didn't even know  No-one can say I didn't bend over backwards to try and keep everyone happy #StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -

All regular comps with end date stay on main board but posters then post link on the regulars board
If poeple vote for the above how would this work exactly?
Would it get posted in regulars and then the OP comes onto the main board and again posts it there with a link to the thread in regulars?
Wouldn't that be like two posts for the same comp and make a mess of the main board?Darren0 -

I think whether that means posting a duplicate thread on the regulars board, or a link to the relevant sticky on the regulars board needs clearing up before people can vote properly?0 -

I was using this particular comp (that I posted) as an example to show that it doesn't really matter to regulars as it's linked back to main. But it does matter to main board posters if it's deleted from the main board straight away before the majority get the chance to enter and/or bookmark.#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -

I would think so, unless they were def always linked together.MSE_Andrea wrote: »OK, is it a problem to link to them both on the actual board and in the stickies?
I realise that would mean people potentially posting something three times per competition but I guess it depends whether people feel they're happy to do that?
If this poll changes as well, can we restart the poll pleaseotherwise what happens if you want to alter your vote if options are added or changed. I am still trying to sort out moving my original vote on the other poll after another 4 options were added.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly
