I'd really appreciate it if you could share your recipe
Lunch today for us is super-frugal Winter Veg soup which is left-overs from yesterday, which were left-over from the day before, which was made with left-overs from the turkey carcase. :T
and later I'm going to make Parsnip soup which will hopefully provide lunches for Monday and Tuesday :T:T ( no left-overs in this one :rotfl:).
Toodles
This reminded me of a quote I like
"My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman"My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

Today I needed a few groceries so I went into the nearest big town. Called in to Aldi, but didn't see anything that was much of a bargain. I haven't been there for ages, it seems jus as expensive as Mr T these days. I guess the weekly specials are bargains but there was nothing I needed. The fruit and veg is cheap, but in my local store the quality is awful. Where i used to live it was good so it seems to differ from store to store.
Went to the supermarket and got a few bits....I definitely need to do menu planning so I'm going to the OS thread to read some old posts from there for advice.0 -
:j Woohooo my second NSD. Yes!!!!
Now for number 3. It may not be tomorrow though, my car is running on fumes!!:o Im dreading the cost of a tank of diesel.
Not going to dwell on it, because at the end of the day, fuel is a necessity for me.
My frugality balance is static for today:T0 -
Petrol watch 129.6 unleaded, 131.20 in diesel, that was in london today
Feel for anyone who is having to driveawful
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

Hi Lynzpower I know at our local library we can renew online. Is it something your library may do as well?
Even small fines add upNualaBuala wrote: »Morning everyone

I've had a little spend today of £2.36p Had to post a parcel. If I'd been thinking I should have posted it tomorrow then I could have had another NSD. Nevermind. Took the homemade soup in, potato and leek and had it with a huge muffin. Filled me up as well.
DD and DS were wanting me to get them a couple of things from the supermarket, me paying of course, and I said No we've got food in. That probably saved me about £15 because I'm sure I'd have picked other things up too.
So feeling really pleased
Just great to read how well everyone is doing...

At the end of the year my sealed pot is my 'treat' money to spend on things that are absolute wants and not needs. Last month I bought a new TV, several DVD box sets and a USB turntable so I can transfer all my old vinyl onto my PC (and then to my iP0d and/or CD) - and I still have some left to spend when I can decide what else I 'want' (getting too used to only buying 'needs' I think)
I've decided that for this year anything extra I earn through overtime will get split. I plan to put 10% into my sealed pot (so I can hopefully get a major 'want' item next December), 40% will be used for days out and not included as part of my budget (can also be used to cover extra petrol used for trips out/visits to friends), and the other 50% is heading for my ISA (which will make for a larger emergency slush fund than just the 'appliance savings' and 'contingency' categories I have within my budget).Cheryl0 -
Hello all,
Popping in for the gossip!!! I managed a bargain chocolate shop today in Waitrose, they were reducing all their xmas thingys to silly amounts so I stocked up. I popped a picture on my blog, I can add a link if anyone want to see my mini mountain of goodies. Though I can't be held responsible for any broken diets or drooling on keyboards lol.
So.......my pile of goodies meens I have covered Mothers Day x2, Valentines gift for OH, a few little bits for Fishfingers 1st birthday, and possibly 2 easter pressys. The rest will mysteriously dissapeer from space and time. Nom nom nom.
Tomorrow is a low spend day. 30p for a cuppa and a biscuit at the free knitting club I joined at the local libary.
How are we all?

:T brilliant idea - your spreadsheet of wonder is obviously paying dividends - literally! :rotfl:
CW - thanks so much for updating the spreadsheet :T - i know it'll help me, and i hope it helps others too. if even only to help us feel a little better about the spends we do have to make but manage to get on offer! and thanks too for managing the download size - i'm running mine from work and home via usb stick so appreciate it for that reason too.
Ceridwen & redglass - Thanks for the advice re the charity shop. i think it's bad form of them, but i can't be bothered to complain - i shop there too much to get embarased about going back in if there were an issue. (nice to see you again Ceridwen - i reckon we were posting in the same forum a lot a year or so ago... humm, maybe one of Faithcecilia's threads?)
silva saver - i know it's no use now, but i always find that things i've made and then frozen taste a bit blander than before, so i add more seasoning to burgers / meatballs / stews ect. maybe add some nice apple sauce on top of the burgers when you serve them? it's usually cheap this time of year.
Lynzpower - THANK YOU for mentioning lib books!!! i renewed with a couple of days to spare, but i wouldnt have remembered - my heads been sideways since bad flu at xmas. THANK YOU!!! :TRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0
