Oh dear SandC, what a shame people feel the need to have to ask such a question, it really does make me angry as to me it almost feels as though they're hoping that you just might fall at the first hurdle! Obviously they don't know you as well as we've all come to know you! Please don't insult yourself with thoughts of maybe not caring for your dear Dad enough, that's ridiculous. Instead, feel the pride he feels for you at seeing you reach that brilliant 3 months as a non-smoker!!! :T
You've done marvellously and you're dealing with grief your way and the mere fact that you cared so much for your Dad when he was here is enough, don't let the stupid questions from others let you question your love for him, you had his love, and he yours, for many years, hold that dear to your heart and tell the doubting Thomas's to sod off!!!! Excuse me everyone I don't normally say things like that on here, BUT there are times when.....!!!! Don't question your feelings of love anymore, but see their jealousy for what it is!!! You've done your Dad and yourself proud, keep on doing so, and should anyone else ask you such a question again, tell them you haven't crumbled out of love and respect for your Dad AND yourself!!! Aside from that give them a

3 months as a non-smoker is excellent SandC many, many congratulations!!! :Tkindofagilr wrote:I have just had my weekly session with the PCT and my Carbon Monoxide level has gone from 15 to 1 in a week!!!! YAY I am so happy!
So you should be happy kindofagilr! That is an amazing achievement...and so very quick!!! :T It just goes to show you how quickly you'll cleanse yourself of all the rubbish smoking brought you over the years. Keep that wonderful journey up and always stay strong! Go for some good walks and get plenty of fresh air in your lungs at the weekend. Breathe deeply and exhale well all the way round. Keep up the water and apples and keep strong!
Another day to chalk up everyone, another day further from cigs and another day closer to your goal. Keep it in view and never lose sight. Every success all, you CAN do it!

Thanks Sue, yes I am probably being a bit paranoid. Truth be told, even though it didn't cross my mind to smoke at any point when it did cross my mind that in times before now that would have been my easy excuse, I just thought that actually dad would have been very disappointed in me if I had.
And anyway, you can't explain the Allen Carr method unless you've used it - you literally are a non smoker from that day onwards and rarely think like a smoker would or did.
So it's all good and it's only because I suppose most see a stressful day at work as a trigger, something major would seem the obvious excuse to start again. I don't need or want excuses as I don't smoke!
A non smoker would never start to smoke in response to a stressful situation would they?
So it's all good.
Another plus and not that I'm looking right now but I've been single for a while - I am 100% sure I am far more likely to meet someone if I'm a non smoker. It's a turn off for more and more people these days and it's becoming a case of smokers sticking together isn't it?0 -
I'm back!!!! I had a failure
Once it hit exam revision time i was smoking again really gutted and actually been hateing it so i'd made me quit day for today and it's only 10am and i'm already climbing the walls!!!

Never posted in this section before - but just searched Allen Carr and this thread came up.
Just a little background - the reason I was searching Allen Carr was I listened to his audiobook six weeks back and gave up - YES it was that simple. None of the ... 'I'm trying to give up' ..... 'I haven't had a cigarette since.....' ...... just I gave up - its in the past tense and I know I'll never smoke again. I know that sounds stupid and arrogant but I am honestly positive I will never smoke again.
I've just finished some stressful exams a day back and had a little time on my hands and realised that I've never craved/needed a cigarette since finishing his book, so decided to have a look at others experiences of his method.
This is not meant to sound conceited in any way - I'm just astounded that it was as easy as it was and hope that it may help others too. I'd smoked for 25 years - between 10-20 most days.
I listened to Allen Carr's audiobook via an MP3 player while walking and followed the instructions and found it EASY to give up - virtually not one pang of withdrawal.
I would highly recommend it to others - disbelieving? Yes I was too - even am now - hence the search on his name.
TRY IT - ITS CALLED THE EASY WAY AND I CAN VOUCH FOR IT BEING THE EASY WAY.:T
Apologies for sounding a little Evangelical0 -

Apologies for sounding a little Evanglincal
Well done, I also quit using the Easy Way, I read the book and it was great. It does work for a large number of people, however one of my friend read it, they went smoke free for a month or two and started smoking again, all it took him was 1 puff, he just wanted the one as he quit he thought he could have 1 and stop again, this was not the case, he went back to his usual habits within a few days of taking that 1 puff.
NEVER EVER give in to a craving, they only last a few minutes, if you give in you certainly will go back to your old habits and you will hate yourself even more for doing so.
There is a free book on whyquit.com which is extremely useful as an alternative reading aid to AC's book, generally read whatever you can on WQ, tons and tons to read and it does help.
Good luck all, smoking is not cool, nor is Nicotine.Smoke-Free since 15/11/08

Glad to see you have so much planned for the weekend kindofagilr, great news and it'll keep you fully occupied! Also you can look forward to going on holiday as a non-smoker which'll be wonderful. If anyone comes near you then "I'm going for a walk" is quite sufficient to get you away from inhaling anything from them. Also, if anyone you know unthinkingly offers you one "I've given up thank you!" That way you won't come back so disappointed at having let yourself down, becuase you WON'T because you love your health SO much!!:D BTW. You're welcome to the support. I know what it's like to give up and I know just how terrific it is to do so, that's all I want for you all!:T
I agree with all you've said SandC, though I know nothing about the Allen Carr method, but I do know that it's worked brilliantly for you and so many others and whatever works for anyone then it's THAT which counts and NOT what others say or think! You're amazing with your outlook and how it's working and it's wonderful to see it!
Like-wise, it's exactly the same for you allthatmularky and again...another success story which is fantastic! :T It didn't come across as evangelical either as you obviously believe in all you say in the same way as others have done/are doing and that's all that counts! The main thing is it's success and I quite believe all you say about being "honestly positive I will never smoke again" and I'm sure you'll remain true to your thoughts! Congratulations allthatmularky!! How about coming back at your 3rd month free, then again at the 6 month etc. That sort of thing is great for moral and shows others first-hand that they too CAN succeed!!! Thanks so very much!
Hi again KatieShopstoomuch! It's wonderful to see you back! It's one thing to quit, but it's great that if you don't quite make it that you return again to fight the little beggars!!! Most of us have done that before we manage it fully so don't worry - you're normal!!!OK, Katie you have another PM, keep it handy and act on it and it'll really help. So will all the support you receive on here. It sounds as though you're possibly still fairly young, so go on take the bull by the horns and get your health in check while you still have youth on your side!
You CAN do it Katie, stay strong and drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fruit, and whenever tempted get out and run, [STRIKE]work[/STRIKE] walk briskly or punch a pillow!!!
Have a wonderful weekend EVERYONE, make it a smoke-free one and no matter how far on your journey you are, fill your lungs with invaluable fresh air! Above all else, keep renewing your resolve - that you WILL kick it and STAY quit - every day!!! It's your health, protect it!!!

Best bit of advice I ever saw Sue...Lmao.:cool:0 -
Hey all,
Well I had a fabulous weekend! we went shopping like I said we were going to, we didnt get to go on a bike ride though as when we got back from a 6 hour shopping marathon lol neither of us could be bothered to go.
Then the fair yesterday was great, I love the fair lol and the weather held out which was really good.
And I am really pleased that I didnt smoke, I was kinda worried about going out and about and being in the car etc, cos normally I would have smoked loads, but I can hand on heart say that not once did I think about smoking!
Yes Sue, I am determined to not smoke on holiday, I think it might be harder than it is for me here, cos I do love smoking on holiday, and my only concern is what I am going to do throughout the day? as I dont know where to put the patch when I am sunbathing lol, I can put it on my butt cheek or on my boob (under the bikini) but i've heard they fall off when they get wet once you have been swimming etc?
I was thinking maybe I could do with just the inhalor throughout the day, then once I have been showered and ready for the night time I can wear the patch?
I need to think about that one lol
Keep up the good work everyone, we are all doing amazing!Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)
