I use a lot of low-fat evaporated milk in cooking as alow-fat alternative to cream. And it tastes yummy.

This can also be used as a replacement for coconut milk: add a few drops of coconut flavour to the condensed milk and you can start a Thai curry!

I do love the boiled condensed milk... but it's hard to tell when it's done sometimes and when undercooked it has funny sugar cristals in it. Still yummy.

1/2 can condensed milk (the recipe used to call for a whole small tin, but these are no longer sold, add the condensed milk to your mix until it is stiff. Th is should be enough to bimd it and set it once refrigerated)
    15 digestive biscuits
    15 cherries
    15 marshmallows
    some coconut

Crush digestive biscuits and add chopped cherries and chopped marshmallows. Stir in condensed milk until the mixture will hardly move!

In a piece of greaseproof paper sprinkle some coconut, lay out the mix in a line on top of the co!!!!. Sprinkle more co!!!! on top. Roll up like a sausage inside the greasproof and seal the ends. ( I roll tinfoil round mine) Place in fridge for 2 - 3 hours until firm. Unwrap and cut into slices.

    Eat and enjoy!!

Or alternatively, be like me and just eat the condensed milk out of the tin :D

Evaporated milk is good in coffee too.
  • Very occasionally , when we were kids, my mum used to give us condensed milk snadwhiches - yum. Thick white bread, loads of butter and condensed milk- absolute heaven :D

You also used to be able to buy it in tubes as well - i used to stick on end in my mouth and just roll up, until Ifelt sick!!

Didn't nestle bring out some little triangular versions last year - vanilla, choc and strawberry flavout?? Haven't seen them around lately though??

When I was little I loved condensed milk (or Nestles Milk as we called it). One day when I was about 8yrs old, I found an unopened tin in the cupboard so I very sneakily got the tin opener and pierced a hole in the top of the can.

I then sucked the condensed milk out of the hole BUT...... this created a vacuum inside the tin which 'sucked' my top lip into the hole. When I pulled my mouth away the sharp tin cut a chunk out of my lip. :(

I was so scared of getting shouted at that I put the tin in the fridge and didn't tell anyone.

Nobody ever noticed the bit of lip and small amount of blood inside the can and I was never asked why I had a piece of my lip missing. :D

    :( :o
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • Baileys ice cream - very easy but very delicious!

Whip 600 ml of double cream
add a tin of condensed milk
add 3 Crunchie chocolate bars smashed into pieces
    add 75ml of Baileys

    gently mix/fold to combine everything.

Put in a plastic container/tupperware and leave in the freezer until frozen

    That's it! :) yummy
